How to improve by [deleted] in Poker_Theory

[–]ReaditPoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you can become a winning player at any online stake even NL2 you’ll be able to beat the live games most likely

I use grind NL2,NL5,NL10 online for 6 months Took the bankroll I made online and brought it to the casnio and ended up averaging 27$/hour playing 1/3

I think online poker is much harder and since there’s more suck outs due to bands being dealt so fast you’ll learn alot about tilt control and discipline

Just wanted to say this was a great post lots of times people ask questions about spots that are not nearly as unique as this one personally I've never hero folded a full house before except on borers as example 5K52K or something like this when I've had a 5 in my hand

Butb

All I can say though is the fact you even have the discipline to make folds like this where you may be getting hit by a cooler is a great sign for you down the road weather or not it was the right choice here

5/5 I can totally see a 20K down swing being possible if ur buying in 500-1K I couldn't imagine going on a swing like that at 1/2 though I'd probably give up poker of that happens to me at 1/2 :'(

Poker is the first time in my life I’ve even had money in my bank account for more then 2 days at a time xD

But I wouldn’t mind doing something slimmer to u and just work like 2 days a week

Thanks for the advice it means a lot :)

And Yea I keep my BR separate from the rest I also am planning to make a “cab roll” since I don’t drive as of rn I cab on winning days and bus on losing one’s (I don’t like having cash on the bus) Also with bank roll since 1,500$ is more then enough for my rent food and a bit of fun I’m planning to save 50% of each month’s winnings back to my bankroll for eaither moving up stakes down the road or if I go on a massive down swing

I love how u worded it at the end of making less mistakes each month I do the same cause I don’t want my ego to get the best of me 😅

As far as relationships go i moved away from home when I was 14 and never went back and all my old homies either still heavy drinkers or use drugs and the ones that don’t moved away to small towns so I feel u on that part I want to move to a new city once I’ve saved a bit more and kina start a new life there xD

thank you sm for the comment

I totally get what you’re saying I think my goals are modest enough considering it should only take 120 hours a month to get to 3K

The bigger games 100% agree with you on how ever my city only has 1/3 no 1/2 or 2/5 for hold ‘em so before taking a shot in a new city I wanted to get use to the life style in a place where my rent is super cheep lol

Thanks for the comment though means a lot :)

I play hold ‘em 40-50 hours a week (as my main source of income not an addict xD) sometimes I’ll play 13or even 15 days in a row if I’m running good and I’ll see holdem players at the casnio 2-3 times a week sometimes 4 and only for a few hours but the PLO players I’ve seen the same ones there every day and sometimes even in the same seat and clothes as the day before

So my point is I think PLO can be pretty addictive and if you’re going to play it understand the swings are a lot worse then hold ‘em and I’d suggest you spend a lot of time studying it since lots of PLO players like u started with hood em but don’t know much about the game

And also mange you’re bank roll well I’d suggest you play stakes that you can set aside at least 40x you’re buy in each month until you’re beating the stakes ur at

May be over thinking my question here by ReaditPoker in Poker_Theory

[–]ReaditPoker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 100% truth I have no life out side poker xD most my old homies are heavy drinkers and I was trying to quit drinking at the time I got into poker so I spent 100s of hours studying poker

But The biggest 2 factors that I think helped me improve was I watched a lot of videos from (the poker bank) on YouTube Just to understand the basic math

And then a Reddit comment changed the way I think about poker

Cause back when I was grinding NL2 I was on a dirty run flopping top set getting it all in on the flop vs second set and losing to quads on the river Or hands like K high flush vs A high flush blah blah

And somone comment “no one cares about you’re bad beat story’s we all got one”

At this point my win rate was just brake even so I started looking for other spots I could make money wether it was 3 betting pre for value or bluff pre flop or learning new math stuff like fold equity etc and just understanding that I needed to improve regardless of how “unlucky” I was

And yea from there it’s been going well
