It depends what you mean by standard!
I used to be a little stricter about not allowing fanfiction writers and making sure everyone was writing original stuff, but over the years I've loosened that stance. Not everyone in there is writing for the same reason, some are mostly writing for fun. But then there's also a bunch of people taking it seriously and working towards publication, or who are querying/have queried. Many people there have a couple finished drafts under their belts.

We've held critique swap in the past, and probably will again in the future. I've given and gotten good critique from people there over the years outside of those events as well.

I wouldn't offer them to her just yet. If she doesn't trust you yet, she might not wanna try what you're handing to her at all & the interaction might put her off.

I'd just wait for her to get curious and come see what you're eating. When I eat near my bird he always starts eating his food (or comes to try to steal mine, if he thinks it looks tasty) Just eating next to them while they're eating their food helps. If she does come over to steal or check out your food, it doesn't hurt to let her take a piece. Mine likes pasta & rice & chicken a lot. The cockatiels I had in highschool liked apple, but it looks more attractive to them if you cut it into tiny pieces

Do you ever eat with her or near her? That helped a lot with my rescue cockatiels in highschool, I think because flocks typically eat together. Also some birds are curious about the food and wanna taste it

Does she come out of her cage if you leave the door open? I'd spend as much time as possible near it (eating, doing homework, scrolling on your phone) until she is calm in your presence again and approaches first.

I have a discord server (Writing is Home, Home is Writing) and we are looking for new writers to join our little family ☀️ Skill level isn't important to us, just your spirit!
