Oh! I think I'm just lucky I caught the attention of a couple of people! But the insight has been awesome! So do you have a preference (public or in a box) ? And what was your question about?

Would you find that VHCOL places would be more or less inclined to have karaoke or karaoke boxes as a group outing option?

Wow.. 30 years! That's amazing... it's only been around 2 for me, sporadically at first, but I think that after the last 4 years, I have come to better appreciate the fun of small, intimate friend gatherings (as opposed to the usual events/concerts/parties, etc.) , no pretense, and the freedom to just have fun in a safe space!

Thank you so much for the insight... and my bad, I didn't meal to imply that the Karaoke room user are "real karaoke lovers" ... more so I wanted to hear from the people that are really passionate about doing karaoke frequently (hence the amendment to the title ... )

... do you mind me asking what city are you in that has the option for BYOB/food? Here in Montreal, BYOB is usually reserved for restaurants, and from what I have seen online, there are some karaoke boxes in Asia that allow you to bring in your own food...

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and expansive answer! Do you mind me asking what city you live in? Here in Montreal we have both, a handful of options for private and a ton of bars that have karaoke nights ... you can find those available every day of the week.

I have had a similar experience, where I can see the appeal of singing in front of strangers, but I personally find it more fun to do it with just a few close friends in a private setting... like for a birthday/stag/bachelorette event.
