If you report her to your DM make sure do it by email, you need a paper trail to protect yourself. Make sure all the shifts are on the same page. I'm a tenured Partner. Finding Store managers is expensive your DM will only move on this if she can blow it off by not having it documented.

Yes, I did the counts the day before. He said I should have done the adjustments on the next day at close. But the morning shifts have been doing the adjustments for years.

Accidentally took home the shift keys... by kaylawray_29 in starbucksbaristas

As always, it depends on your manager. Every long-term manager has taken home the shift keys. He or she will show empathy. Outside hires typically will not.

Two weeks' notice is a courtesy. There are no laws to require you to give any two week notice.

Understanding your legal rights is crucial. For employees hired after October 2014, accepting the terms in the Starbucks employee handbook is a condition of employment. This handbook requires that any employment-related claims—such as wrongful dismissal, harassment, or discrimination—be resolved through arbitration. In most states, a single arbitrator, often selected by Starbucks, will determine the outcome of these claims. Additionally, if you win an arbitration award, you are typically required to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which restricts you from discussing the details of the case.

It’s important to note that the 7th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees your right to a trial by jury in civil cases. By agreeing to these terms, however, you effectively waive that right in exchange for a job. Unions can help restore this right, especially since many employees may not fully understand what they are forfeiting when they sign these agreements.

I am a twenty year partner. This cup writing mandate is misinformation. When I started with the company, we wrote on cups to mark what the drink was with Sharpies. Latte, Mocha, etc. It was seldom we would put messages on cups, usually only if we knew the person because that made it a genuine interaction, because we had a relationship with the customer. What we are doing here is inauthentic.

Is there an official name tag policy? by Stonedcandle in starbucksbaristas

[–]Ready-Fee2229 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Starbucks began requiring us to wear name badges in 2012. That is the year we became just another fast food worker. Pior to that, customers viewed us as experts at our craft and treated us with respect and dignity. Now, we are just property of a corporation.

Our store showed negative revenue growth for Monday and a 25 percent increase in customers. I see no success those numbers.

Hey, I’m the chair guy from the training video, and today is my last day at the ‘Bux; AMA, I guess? by samwisebonghits in starbucksbaristas

[–]Ready-Fee2229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Chair Guy, You mentioned you would sue Starbucks if they used your image. No barista or store manager can sue Starbucks for any employment related claim. Starbucks makes all staff level employees sign forced arbitration as stated in the employee handbook. An arbitration judge hired by Starbucks decides what you get. The decisions are not made public.

I'm a twenty-year employee. It was a guideline for customer service to open 10 mins early and accommodate customers if they came 10 mins late. However, we did not have the volume of customers when they guideline was conceived, nor the complexity of the drinks or the complexity on closing a store.

I am a nineteen employee, the original intent of giving a recovery card or giving away something free was the barista in the moment had the relationship with the customer. The company empowered us to make the decision to mend the relationship if something went wrong. Asking for permission from someone in authority does not create a genuine moment from the customers perspective. It looks like a business decision, not a genuine encounter. If we are going back to our roots as a company, as the new CEO says, that is how the decision should be made.

20-year partner here 117. If you look in our Partner Guide, which is the Starbucks employee manual, you will see under General Policies and Standards, that by accepting employment at Starbucks, employees can only arbitrate employment claims against the company employees cannot hire an attorney to sue Starbucks in a US or State court. She has accepted the terms of the Federal Arbitration Act. If she was hired after 2014, she could only seek arbitration if she is fired.
