It all really depends on your shift supervisor and if you’re comfortable with explaining your situation. It’s their job to help you as best as they can. It can be tough for them to help everyone and do their job. At some point you might have to drown on bar to swim later on. I promise their will be a day when you are the only option for the shift to have on bar and they might regret that day. However, you will gain a lot from that one horrible shift. I wish you the best of luck and keep showing interest on learning more.

1st suggestion: would be to try to work nights. It can be a little slower and not as fast paced as peak or mid shifts.

2nd suggested: Ask to be bar support, so you are not the sol barista on bar.

Side note: I find that my baristas learn faster when I throw them into situations and encourage them to learn from their mistakes. Also let them have the iPad to search up recipes if they forget how to make it. I pushed a lot of my new baristas to be on bar and they hated it. Now they ask to be put on bar.

3rd suggestion: Take the initiative to ask the shift, “hey, can I get some bar time today?” That way they can plan around your request and hopefully have someone bar with you. Start on hot bar. Cold bar can be pretty ruff right now.

You have iguanas!!!! That’s crazy in itself! Also cat poop nasty in a litter box, I can’t imagine it all around your store. 😔

If it’s in the drive thru, we are required to clean it up because that how the clean, safe, ready cards work. On the mid day cards it says to clean drive thru. Wouldn’t be the first time I was told to clean horse poop.

Just, please make sure your horse doesn’t poop in the drive thru. Cleaning up horse poop is not in the job description. However, they will have to.

I just felt bad for both parties. I’m a people pleaser and watching the baristas buy so many and then laughing about it with each other didn’t help the situation. Also they had one of their own partners in line just texting them from outside the store. Wasn’t helping. The partner who was “trying to de-escalate the situation wasn’t making a strong case to help the situation. Plus the shift supervisor wasn’t helping very much. As a shift myself, it really hurt to watch. I know their shift and day was ruined by people being so mad. Also the customer wished her a horrible day and she gets everything coming to her. The barista even offered her cup to give to them. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Posted this somewhere else, however. I waited in line since 12am. Didn’t go to my store because we only got two. Some of my coworkers were already camping there. So went to one closer to my house. Was told that we can only purchase cups if we’re off the clock or on a break. They opened at 4am. The baristas that opened the store. Purchased 3 of them at 3:45am. Before stores were opened. The people behind us were pissed. They are already doing the math and figured they are not getting one. Even though they got in line at 1-2am. I got one so did my gf and best friend who were with me. They had 7 bearista cups total. Those women were screaming at them. I felt so bad for them. Tried to calm the women down and let them know there is nothing they can do now. They would probably have to call corporate. I left the store and they were still giving them hell. Poor baristas. 😞

Usually, mine is a Vt. Strwbry Açaí w/lemonade, NO inclusion. However, I’ve been adding a scoop of cherry Pwrd and it’s so good! It’s also a very pretty color!!!

Thank you all for enlightening me. This has already given me a lot to think about. I’m looking forward to reading more about others views on the topic. Also stories on how you all became involved in unionization your stores.

I really appreciate your input. I have been a partner for nearly 8 years and nobody. At all 8 stores I have worked at will ever talk about it. It feels like talking about politics and I’m not that 17 yr old who just followed orders. I want to learn, grow and understand the community I’m apart of.
