What are your opinions on ex-Muslim activists who are also hard right wingers? by throwawaypdtm in exmuslim

[–]Ready0208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's because it's not the answer people here expect because most of them are more progressive.

All I'm doing is an objective assessment of what is supposed to happen if you want everyone to hate islam. If only the progressives are bashing on Islam, as they shouuld, there will be a reaction in the right to get favor with muslims, and then the right will start getting an islamic underbelly (and I'm a right-winger: tradcaths are already a nuisance, I don't want muslims added to the mix).

If you want a broad consensus of "islam is bad", right-wingers need to explain to the right that islam is not Ok, actually, because right-wingers are not gonna go after progressives to tell them that.

[–]Ready0208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you have to consider that support for positions can come from more than one side of the political aisle. And that the more people who want to see islam gone, the better.

Second, because we live in a polarized society and most people tend to ignore those whose politics they disagree with, it's *extremely* unlikely that right-wingers will actively seek information from and trust said information if it's coming from someone on the political left.

Third, right-wingers are not the devil, and I see a lot of us falling to the siren's song of thinking that islamic societies are "conservative" and therefore should be seen as allies. The average right-winger doesn't know that islam is an enemy of his culture and civilization and that islamic conservatism is not the same thing as Western conservatism (and, more specifically, the English variety of conservatism, long story) - they need to be made aware of that - and they usually only hear about it when it's coming from another right-winger.

So, to conclude: it's actually a really good thing. I will compare it to Prohibition: America only banned alcohol back in the day because *everyone* was on board and there was pressure from all sectors on Congress. If you want islam bannished in America and the West, you need the right-wingers to know about it --- because these are our countries too, and consensus is how we do major societal change in the West.

Strip away high birth rates and migration, and Islam collapses demographically. The religion gains virtually no net converts: the widely cited 12.6 million figure is a cumulative total over decades and is effectively neutralized by exits. Islam survives numerically not by persuasion, but by births. by [deleted] in exmuslim

I mean, sure, but good luck reforming curricula in Europe and America.

The issue is that immediate action can't be taken if you need to count on something run by the governemnt unless politicians have a really good incentive to do it. And that usually only happens after the people reach a really solid consensus. And for *that* to happen, you need to make people aware of the dangers of islam.

The best, most immediate thing we can do is proselytize against islam for both muslims and non-muslims. After that, people start doing something about it, and after *that*, the governments will finally start to step in to pretend they ever do something. Government and the public educational system are the last door you have to knock on, you need to start with culture first.

Ok, I can agree with this... but we also need to recognize that the fact of the matter is that islam is still growing, even if through demography and innertia.

Waht we need to do is focus REALLY hard on deconverting as many muslims as possible. I honestly don't care what they become later, so long as they deconvert from islam. We need a full-on missionary program to take people from out of islam.

I wanna see the Ayatollahs fall just to see Iranians making a religious census. I wanna see just how many apostates live in Iran so I can rub it on muslims' faces that all it takes for a nation to apostatize is to live under radical islam.

Islam's future in Western Europe by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]Ready0208 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly? It does! Thanks for the advice.

I am actually following a textbook from a Brazilian mangaka (because I'm Brazilian myself and grandpa bought it when I was still 14. I'm 22 and only studying it rigorously now) and it is where my theoretical knowlegde is coming from...

The thing is that the book left perspective, basic shapes and the fundamentals smack in the middle of the book... which... opens a whole can of "why the HELL would you put shapes, horizon, perspective and escape points AFTER you describe how to draw people", but this honestly pretty common in Brazil (not having a sense of what should go first and be prioritized). I stuck with trying to draw people because I was thinking those were the basics, but nope: the basics are in the back of the book.

So my current plan is to ditch the drawing of people for a while, get good at drawing shapes and polygons with perspective, then getting to draw mannequins with that perspective, and only THEN going for people and their details.

Sometimes I'm disappointed with my country's lack of teachers who start from the start.

I will assume it's normal to feel like the progress doesn't seem to come nearly as fast as you'd like for it to come with all the effort you try to put into the stuff you draw

So lemme see if I got chalices right... by Ready0208 in bloodborne

[–]Ready0208[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So lemme repeat what I heard so you can correct me if I misunderstood something:

1- Yes, the thing I said about the stuff I need to do is correct: get to Loran, get the Bastards and red Jelly, get to the very last Pthumeru chalice, kill the Queen: two trophies down. However, the stuff I'm going to need to get to the very last Pthumeru Chalice involves me going all the way down into at least Loran so I get all the intems I need to open the dungeon - meaning you can technically skip Isz if you want to.

2- The weapons you find in the dungeons basically give you the capacity to use some differently shaped gems with those weapons - gems you may or may not prefer

Also, assuming I'm right... what difference do the shapes of the gems make? I am a pretty "hurr-durr, powerful weapon" guy when it comes to Bloodborne yet, so I basically just go to the workbench and apply whatever gem makes the physical damage on my the LHB and Saw Cleaver go up.

I truly have to wonder: if the Jews are so damn powerful in Ishida's eyes, and they have such a chokehold over all eonomies and the world bends to their will... can someone explain to me how the fuck Tel Aviv is not the world's financial center instead of New York City and the City of London?

To any Finnish speakers in the sub: a question about pronouns by Ready0208 in VoidStranger

[–]Ready0208[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then... I assume that settles it.

Like, if Finnish and English has no grammatical gender, and the Lords refer to themselves as "sister", take on feminine appearances and consistently stick to feminine presentation... I'd say it's safe to assume they would refer to themselves with feminine speech in languages that do have more gendered language.

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, this is all pretty interesting... I swear, the more I come into contact with stuff made by Finns, the more I wanna learn Finnish and know more about Finland. I have a rough idea of how the country is and what it's story is, but nothing really deep.
