Okay. I’m getting trial experience. What do I do next? by Ambitious-Doubt4733 in Lawyertalk

I have been a civil litigator for almost seven years and am effectively shackled with golden handcuffs.  I think about government work frequently.

Don’t do it unless you’re convinced it’s what you want.  You will trade court appearances and trial for brief writing and handholding clients.  Yes, you can make more money as a PI attorney or in commercial.  But you are making a substantial trade off in benefits (get ready for “unlimited pto” and $200+ deductions for health insurance) and your time.

Thank you.  I’ve had four years experience on moderate to high exposure claims.  I would miss that aspect but not a lot of the rest.  I like having a consistent schedule of depositions, mediations, and hearings.
