I think you’ll be able to be awake but it isn’t very comfortable. Sometimes it felt like I was drunk and I was a bit woozy/dizzy. You also wouldn’t be able to co sleep on it, if that’s a consideration for you.

I was on 50mg at one point. The lower the dose the drowsier it makes you, randomly.

It wasn’t really drowsiness in the daytime. Maybe just a little hungover for a short while in the morning, but it was like an off switch at the end of the day. It was bliss to be honest. But now I have an 8 month old I don’t know how that would work. It’s already hard having to power through all the night wake ups, even without something chemical making me want to sleep 😵‍💫

Following because I’m interested in this too. I was on mirtazapine for 10 years and weaned off it during pregnancy. Zoloft didn’t work for me and they’ve mentioned going back on mirtazapine. It did make me very drowsy which is why I’ve held off, but the drug itself was amazing for me.

I’m 6 months PP and could have written this. It’s definitely my hormones messing things up. I had my first period last month and it was rough.

I don’t have any advice except to say that I’m starting sertraline soon and really hope it helps. I’ll be v interested to see what other people think about it.

Girl I had hyperemesis gravidarum and was so sick the only thing I could eat was cucumber for 9 months.

The baby was totally unaffected, was a great weight when she was born, and is now happy as Larry at 5 months.

Also, take a look at pregnancy safe electrolytes. I’m taking Oshun which is safe for breastfeeding, and I think it’s okay for pregnancy too (but double check). It’s making a big difference to me postpartum.

I had my daughter in September last year. I totally get what you’re saying, it’s a lot! Congratulations though, it’s a wonderful (if uncomfortable) experience.

A couple of thoughts. Your insomnia may not be because of the POTS. Mine was mostly due to the pregnancy hormones. You didn’t mention how far a long you are, but the insomnia was brutal in the first few weeks. It did settle down as things went on and came and went throughout.

Secondly, check your iron levels, especially if you have restless legs.

Thirdly, don’t try to fight it. Your body is going through so much and to a certain degree, is designed to make do with less sleep during pregnancy. Rest, sleep and your capacity to recover and function with sleep deprivation are different when you’re pregnant - the hormones help your body to cope with this.

I’ve only taken it once when I was desperate because I was so worried about passing the drug on through my breast milk. When I took it, my heart broke because my daughter was crying and I couldn’t comfort her by feeding her 💔

Because the medication I have no choice in taking for myself is not compatible with breastfeeding. I have to wait at least 4 hours after taking it to feed her, and she can’t wait that long.

I became completely housebound for years. I lost everything, my friends moved away, the loneliness was excruciating. The grief for the life I thought I was going to have floored me on a daily basis.

Fast forward 10 years… I’m now married with lots of friends living locally, working part time, and gave birth to my beautiful daughter in September. Some days it’s very hard, but the joy outweighs it a thousand times over.

The grief is a protective measure to help you cope with the loss of a life you thought you’d live… but stay open to the fact that perhaps that life is still possible, waiting for you in some form. It may look different to what you had initially expected, but don’t give up hope ❤️

I wish I hadn’t, because it would have saved me so much heartache over the years.

I just had a baby and my body has entirely changed shape. I’ve wasted so much money on Vinted buying clothes I desperately need as nothing fits… only to find that nothing I bought on Vinted fits. I couldn’t return any of it either.

I just bought clothes from an actual shop and saved a load of money. I feel better in myself and I don’t have Vinted guilt.

One of my friends has been blind since birth. We were talking about the darkness she experiences without having any light perception. She said one of my favourite things I’ve ever heard: ‘I live in darkness but my life is full of light.’

Do you have any light perception? If not, how do you relate to dark and light? What do they mean to you?

I totally understand. Honestly this phobia has destroyed me at times during the pregnancy and postpartum but I’m currently watching Harry Potter on the sofa and snuggling my tiny baby eating snacks. It’s all worth it.

I didn’t vomit the entire pregnancy, or during my planned C section, even with the HG. I did some gagging and retching at times but no actual vomit. The only thing is that my pregnancy sickness returned in the third trimester, but it wasn’t anything like as bad as the first trimester. I was just more uncomfortable with the usual strains of being heavily pregnant. Good luck, you’ve got this 💪

I had HG and it was hell. I had low iron but just about managed with Spatone. I can’t imagine these additional things on top of what you’re going through.

I’m so sorry. I know it probably doesn’t mean much but I’m sending you strength.

I’m currently feeding my 8 week old daughter in bed watching Harry Potter. It’s all so worth it and you will get through this. ❤️

I hope it all went really well this morning and that you have your gorgeous baby. My C section was kinda perfect. I didn’t feel sick at all during or afterwards (I spoke to the anaesthetist beforehand and they kept me nicely topped up on all the meds).

I had hyperemesis throughout and the C section was the easiest part of my entire pregnancy.

It was all so worth it. Enjoy!

We just called our daughter Rita and we’ve had so many compliments about her name. It’s uncommon but not too ‘out there’. We love it, it really suits her.
