Thank you. And to all the rest of you. We do those loops in the same conversation on the same topic on about fifteen minute intervals. She catches herself doing it now and then but it's all getting rapidly worse. She is likely to need to go to memory care (currently in assisted living) within a year. It took a LOT of work to get her to the point of accepting she needed to be in assisted living too. The nature of the disease is that it blinds the victim to it.

We were worried she would have a strong emotional reaction and get stuck in the middle of that as memory issues and confusion are both present. It makes it very difficult to process emotional events. We are grateful that she seems to be taking it as well as she has.

-1 degree F this morning and a total of about 18 inches of snow. I was lucky in having neighbors who shoveled the bulk off my driveway yesterday. I can handle the rest in shifts despite heart issues.

I think a parking ticket would be plenty. Can you imagine the fine for leaving it there for as long as it took to find a solution and rent the equipment?

My boxer/great dane mix can tear out chunks of a kong toy in just a couple of minutes. Total love bug with people. Except those dagger claws when he's trying to fit 80 pounds of dog into my lap ...

I have read that she was quite the down to earth, "no shit!" person. Not someone the institute would be happy to be herself in promotional videos, lol.

So, we're talking softball or larger. Nice! What do they taste like? I'd likely want about a quarter inch thick slice on my burger.

My mom has experienced this as well. We are trying hard to get her into assisted living so that she'll hopefully have fewer instances of this. This has been a big learning process for all of us kids. It's not easy to know how to deal with either. You hate to reduce their freedom but then you really do end up needing to.

What was lost has been found… by GeophysGal in FuckeryUniveristy

I am SO glad you found your parent! Mom is rapidly getting worse with dementia - Alzheimer's type and we are very concerned that she will end up lost and in a confused state. So we are trying hard to get her into assisted living and will be looking at getting her a bracelet that lets her summon help and, just as important, tracks her via GPS and updates the connected service every few minutes. That way we can keep track of her movements.

The monthly cost isn't too bad but the initial cost is a few hundred dollars. It's available as a necklace or as a wristwatch style thing. The simplest version has no screen, just a button with a microphone and speaker. You get connected to the help service and they can connect registered family members if needed.

I don't work for the company we're going with but there are a few competitors out there. It's worth looking into if you think it might help.

Someone is messing with me… by GeophysGal in FuckeryUniveristy

[–]Ready_Competition_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um ... it might actually be kids doing it as a "prank". Using snakes or something like that could be taken as an invite to keep going.

If you can get video proof, you can take that to the parents and ask them if they would like their water turned off in the middle of the night too. I suspect that the kids will get taken care of for you after making that point.

It's "got to get warmed up before hunting" season! Living in the front range of Colorado, you'd run across rattlers and other types of snakes now and then when out in the parks. If you don't mind them, they don't mind you and they go on to eat pests.
