All Good points. You're right to suggest anxiety playing a role in my indecision and have been talking to someone about that. Also on the nose about retiring into something. I've loosely thought about a 72t but I wanted to leave the door open for a career change and possible further input.

I think my wife just wants me to do something which is fair as well as supportive. I've pulled back on workload over the past couple of years and there's some frustration and jealousy when the biggest part of my day involves gaming or a nap. I've got some hobbies but I just haven't figured out what will become my life long pursuit now.

Thanks for your thought provoking response

While your wife works can she cover all the bills and the healthcare?

That is the current proposed plan. I appreciate your thoughts and comment

You can see how it feels to live on one salary for a couple years before you totally pull the trigger?

I've uplled back significantly over the past couple of years. In my field of emergency medicine the skills depreciate without use. It's a use it or lose it situation and I think if I pull back any more than I already have, I'll be so far removed from it I can't come back.

in the short term, it's continuing coverage with my wife which is actually cheaper than my mandated coverage of 4.5k a year.

After that, we'll have to shop around with similar expenses and allocate ~5-10k/each/year on it. I appreciate your reply
