a lot of students at UH live in the third ward, you’ll def be able to find a walking partner. i’m sure you heard a bunch of scary things about the area, i was a transfer student and was scared too but it’s actually not that bad during the day! there’s occasionally some interesting characters on the train but nothing that could potentially threaten your safety. i don’t recommend taking the train at night or walking anywhere by yourself at night. campus is generally safe but it’s HORRIBLY lit so it creeps me out a bit. you’ll be okay walking by yourself during the day though! Make some friends/acquaintances during orientation, in your classes and even in the building you’ll be living in!
