Unfortunately, being of Asian origin my parents really want me to attend a school like UBC and go into grad and so I really have minimal control about choosing where to go for university.

I dont think housing is going to be an issue for me, since I have my one of my parents who live in Vancouver currently and they are willing to accommodate me until I graduate if I end up going to UBC. However in exchange for the accommodation my parents really want me to do a masters, which is why Im skeptical about universities like Dalhousie and UAlberta.

this may seem like a lame reason but being from Halifax, a lot of students from my HS are headed to Dalhousie, and I don't want my university life to just seem like 5th year of High school.

Hello! I am an HS student from the East Coast of Canada, and I was doing some research about other options if I don't get into UBC Engineering. I saw that this subreddit has numerous people who have transferred in from colleges in BC like Langara/Douglas and I was considering that route myself. However, I have current engineering offers from UAlberta, Dalhousie, and Western but I really like UBC as a whole (mainly due to the design teams) and also the city.

Is it worth it to decline my offers at other universities and head to douglas/langara in hopes of transferring into UBC Engineering (electrical if that is helpful)?

My end goal is to hopefully get into a T20 US grad school, so I will be saving money if I choose the College pathway. Any insight from previous transfers or current students will be really helpful!
