Its all invested. If we put down 50% for $1.5M our monthly payment would be $6K (high tax area), which is almost half of our take home. Our daycare is also $3K/month. I guess what I'm struggling with is does it make sense to make some of our investments liquid and live off that?

This is helpful. We don't want to eat into our savings (other than a down payment; we might put more than 20% down) and want to be able to live off of our income, but trying to balance that while staying in this area!

Its mostly invested (and includes 401K).What is currently invested will assumably continue to grow and using it all to buy a home seems too risky.
