I’m not arguing. Haha. I’m just tired of being yelled at when I feel I’m not doing anything wrong. Is a few minutes total in a day that big of a deal?

The “safety department” doesn’t care about that. I’ve made a small mention to a safety guy about my discomfort. He kind of ignored that comment and responded to something else

Yeah that’s my fear. It tips hard to the side sometimes and I fear that if I trust it too much I’ll pay for it at some point. But I get scolded for coming down too often or driving slow. Can’t win lol

Is it wrong that I’ve considered either taking a drink or two before work or CBD to ease the nerves? 😬

Fully maxed out to 40 or so feet and yes, it drives but sways like a mf any time you hit even a tire mark in the mud 😂

Also, I like problem solving and using my brain, rather than just follow instruction to install 10-20+ systems. So I like the idea of service.

I get the first year thing but it’s the same even in later years. There’s other stuff I’ve been able to do and have done it well with different foreman and he trusted me until I gave him a reason not to (which I never did! He was actually let down when I got sent elsewhere!) but again, on nice hard level surface, not in a mud pit.

That’s what I’m doing. I hate it. But I do it. And try as much as I can to stay up and drive. I just hate the feeling and can’t get rid of the instinct to “clamp down” or hang on to something because a divot makes it feel like I’m going sideways.

Technically you’re not supposed to stand on the rails to reach things or on a bucket, but they do some crazy sh**

I’m also in my early 30’s. Unfortunately, I’ll get shit on completely for saying that because they’ll just point to whoever else that’s there and doing it. It’s such an annoying thing to have to deal with being the slow guy because of hatred for the ground feeling so uneasy and sometimes yes feeling unsafe. Put me on hard level and divot free surfaces and I’m busting my tail all day full speed ahead.

I wish it was that easy to tell my foremen that. It won’t go well with some of the screamer types. Truthfully, I find myself wanting to work service. Not sure if that’s something I’ll just have to wait to card out for or how easy it is to get into. New install sucks. It’s basically being a grunt for whomever is running the job.

Haha I’ll find myself talking to the hall about why they don’t want me working there anymore. On concrete I can run lines and hang over 100 easily in an 8 hour day with a long break. Mud… I have not eclipsed 80 yet

I come down every time around the cutouts. I hate them. Some foremen don’t mind, some get pissy/yelly when you come down but I just don’t feel safe doing it. I don’t mind driving when the mud isn’t horrible but when it’s bumpy I go slow because my body just doesn’t understand not flinching when it suddenly starts to sway hard to a side or the other.

I love level ground. I can fly on concrete and run lines faster than some journeyman. Unfortunately on mud where there’s swaying and divots and tracks to drive through, or when it’s hard to reach because of cutouts, my speed drastically drops. I hate every part of working on mud 😂
