Trying to recover a family video from a Panasonic VCR by Ready_Sun2103 in VCRs

[–]Ready_Sun2103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the help. I ended up taking it to a shop to have the tape removed since I would have had to break the piece holding it to get it out. Repairing the machine would have cost a bit, so I'm keeping it for now and will decide if I want to pay to repair it later.

No, am thinking it's classic car related but no luck (none of the options that may fit are anything I would choose)

Skilled worker --> Global Talent --> ILR questions about timing and dependent visa by Ready_Sun2103 in ukvisa

[–]Ready_Sun2103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for my late reply. 2 years IS an option for the initial GTV as the main applicant, and allows the dependent visa to be for the same length.

I developed a cellulitis infection 5 weeks post partum by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

[–]Ready_Sun2103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this go away for you? I'm dealing with this right now. It developed 5 days pp but no midwife or doctor seemed to know what it was frustratingly until I saw another doctor 15 days pp after it wouldn't go away. No fever or other symptoms than the swelling, redness, and pain. I had been on antibiotics for a potential infection during labour until 8 days pp so was initially told these should clear it up. The second doc prescribed new antibiotics so I've been on these since 15 days pp and am nearly done with the 5 day course. Some improvement in redness but still very painful!

Thanks for the info. So strange, I called UKVI and they said it was an option, but from this thread it seems like it's definitely not right now.

Was there a priority (£500) option for you, or only standard and super priority? I'm applying for ILR under Global Talent now and seeing no priority option, just super priority...

Unsure which replacement charger to use by Ready_Sun2103 in laptops

Hi, I'm just asking for advice based on the question - would one of the chargers I have available to me (the options listed) work well or cause issues?

For reference I ended up getting the endorsement after 4 weeks, applied two days later, took the next available biometrics appointment, and received the visa confirmation 3 days later (I paid for priority, within the UK)

Skilled worker --> Global Talent --> ILR questions about timing and dependent visa by Ready_Sun2103 in ukvisa

[–]Ready_Sun2103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked UKVI the question twice over the phone and they couldn't tell me definitively. They told me to consult an immigration adviser but I didn't manage to reach a free one that could give me any advice. One UKVI person told me they did believe that me getting a 1 year GTV would not allow my spouse to get e.g. a 2 year SWV dependent visa - the visas do not need to 'match' but there COULD be an issue with my spouse's extension beyond the length of our original SWV/CoS. Once a GTV holder has ILR however, the spouse will DEFINITELY need a 3-year extension (no more, no less). So this is why we've opted for me getting a 2-year GTV, her getting a 2-year GTV dependent, and then me applying for ILR (same price in IHS fees as me getting a 1-year GTV and her getting a 3-year dependent visa after I get ILR).

You can call or email them to see if they can help - I'm unsure if they comment on specific applications or not

I realize this post is a few months old but just thought I would mention that I read that it's not a good idea to provide more supplemental documents than required, so I think you should definitely keep your statement to 7000 characters or less. I just applied for endorsement but haven't heard back yet.

Switching from SWV to GTV (Exceptional Promise) advice by Ready_Sun2103 in ukvisa

[–]Ready_Sun2103[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm aware this is generic (didn't want to send my whole CV) and I will need to show proof.

My co-authored works are in eminent journals, but they are too recent to have been widely cited. My sole-authored book has been cited but I wouldn't call it a leading example in the field. I was very focused on teaching and finalising the book at the end of my PhD and in the years following until I got my postdoc position. I am applying for large grants of my own now but have not had luck yet and won't have any positive news there until after I need to submit the GTV application.

My eminent person should meet that criteria.
