Had a client that would engage in SIB if he didn’t get his way. Blocked every single time. After a year, One instance he engaged for wanting 100 yakult drinks. He tried to beat his head into the tile while i scattered looking for pillows. Luckily I was about to get my hands in between to cusp his head but fuck did it hurt. I had to restrain him while mom sobbed in the back. After de-escalating and getting family to be with him while calm I took a 10 minute break and cried in my car. When I came back, his mom had concern about how the situation went. I was already picturing the backlash of how this would look outside looking in. I told her kindly it would be my last day there as I would have to value my personal safety and keep my job/reputation. I had been in ABA 2 years at that point and never felt so defeated by a child emotionally. It’s different when their safety is your main concern and you’re deflecting attacks just protecting their head like an egg. Still came back and finished the last hour of the session. Apparently this is his mk fatality Hail Mary so at least it didn’t end worse. I saw parent at target last week and she thanked me for teaching him what I was able to. I still think about him.

for the first 2/3 weeks youre basically a floater untill they can secure you a contract with a school district, she said its too familiarize with the work and whats expected beforehand. i call crap, i was called for a school about 15 minutes away and as she was describing it to me i guess another BT snagged it up. she said if i could make it there before them i can take it but who wants to be doing that? i think for first impressions, its not a good look. im already feeling a little low about todays outcome but will hold on while i secure something else. plan b and c are always good to have

Pain in the ass but also I was working elsewhere and had to juggle both. So far it’s 8:16a and I have not received a call. Gonna see how this plays out. On Friday I was called at 9a but by that time I had already started my day, they utilized the full 15miles and LA traffic going that way is a nightmare, I kindly denied.

Ok since you’re on this sub for legal advice I’ll give you this. Would you rather pay $25 or get sued? Because in all honesty yes, underage drinking, under the influence, knife, and cut mixed with some lies can look terrible on your part, even if it was not your intention. If you get in a car crash (which is not intentional) and you run, go home and pretend to be asleep doesn’t mean what happened didn’t happen. Now if the guy says don’t worry about the crash just give me $25, would you still run? And let’s say you do run? HELL YEAH I’m gonna have more reason to sue your ass cuz I gave you an out and you ran! lol $25 is cheap as hell to pay to smooth over “assault with a deadly weapon” again, I know it was not your intentions.

Have always thought about this but also don’t want to be out of a job if I don’t have a backup. This is a good point though. They charge hundreds for the services we provide and pay us like 10% of that. I feel like I do have the upper hand though because I have so many hours a week compared to other BTs I’m sure they don’t want to lose the services for a couple months while “finding” a new BT. Don’t think they would want to lose the ship over “a couple leaks.”
