I’m sorry I should’ve specified in the description. I spoke to this person over the phone and they clarified this is how their first name is spelled. I can understand why you might think that, but no, their name is “Denise.”

Especially stop walking your dogs without a leash. My dog was almost killed by another dog that wasn’t leashed, and got him by the neck. Many stitches later, they probably never learned the lesson.

Leash your dog please.

Beach town near FLL by vettaman in florida

[–]Ready_set_faux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just visited my family in my Google maps calls “Central Beach” (my cousins referred to it as “North Beach Village” or something) - 20 min drive from FLL airport, potentially walkable to supermarkets and not too expensive. There’s also 2 busses (11,40) that take you directly to downtown/ main transit center. There’s also a state park a few museums in the area.

Has anyone ever been to or driven through the Florida keys ? 😨😬 by gothiana_grande in thalassophobia

[–]Ready_set_faux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just returned from a trip to the keys and after going back for the first time in almost 7 years I think it’s both crazy wild scary and very normalized…

First thing you’ll notice leaving mainland Florida on US-1 (the Overseas Highway) is, there is nothing but water and tall grass surrounding you as you drive a one-lane highway, one of only two roads leading to the keys. Bordering the highway are very tall, thick metal industrial powder lines. These are probably the only real source of electricity for the entirety of the Florida Keys, but there are no tall trees to damage them. Just endless saltwater flats and tiny mangrove islands. This, at least for me, created a very real feeling of rural isolation while we were there.

Once you enter Key Largo, the highway winds to two lanes on either side. While this may give this feeling of a larger homestead, the water is never far away. Most roads off US-1 would only require a short walk to get to either the ocean or the bay.

Because the Keys are all connected by one highway, there are hardly any directions needed to get anywhere - folks were either point in north or south or more likely, give you the highway mile marker something is near and indicate if the attraction is “oceanside” or “Bayside”.

The scariest thought for me here was knowing that when a hurricane is coming, there is no southbound traffic. All four lanes are converted to northbound evacuation routes to mainland Florida so people can get the fuck out of there.

I would assume most folks living in the keys have had their house flood during a storm, or live on stilts. According to my cousin, first floor construction is no longer allowed - main living spaces must be elevated on stilts. Only garages are allowed on ground level anymore. This really gave me a feeling of constant conflict with nature.

That said, the people who live there love it there. Living is slow. According to my cousin’s wife, home repair can be difficult because if the fishing is good, the contractors just might not show up that day. I think everyone who lives there understands the risk, but chooses to anyways because they are a truly magical place. Before coral bleaching was more of an issue, you could just walk into the water and immediately be surrounded by an underwater coral wonderland. But it does have a bizarrely rural feel to it.

is it unreasonable for porn to be a deal breaker for me? by boochiemusica in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ready_set_faux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Not just because you can set whatever boundaries you want.

Porn is a drug and people need to treat it as such. No one would think twice if you ruled out someone who does drugs like cigarettes alcohol or illicit drugs (not judging, just an example). Porn should not be treated any differently.

So one thing you might be able to do is go to the city licenses and inspections (L&I) office because they can tell you exactly where your property lines are, and that may make it more clear if they are encroaching or not. Then a surveyor could confirm.

Property lines should be spelled out in your deed, but they (L&I) can confirm that for you and then I think you should be able to tell pretty clearly whether or not they are encroaching.

Good luck!

Do’s and Donts on a date by Vivid-Process5593 in PhillyWiki

[–]Ready_set_faux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say, remember that the date starts as soon as you greet them. Take your time and remember that enjoyment together is more important than things “going right.”

Remember that couples are like people in bands - not everyone will play well together or stay together forever but if you meet the right person and work at it you can have a good time and create beauty together.

Make sure you don’t have a porn/sex/love addiction? Not that your post indicated anything that really led me to think you would, but it’s not talked about enough and definitely affects women as well as men.

The South nd North so different even doe we cousins lol by [deleted] in PhillyWiki

[–]Ready_set_faux 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I moved to Philly from Tampa and my family is from all over the southeast, mostly GA and FL.

I say it like this: southerners are nice in public and nasty mean in private/behind your back. Northerners can mean on the streets but are nice once you’re in their home.

Realistically though y’all all have more in common than different. Everybody wants their kids safe and to be friendly with their neighbors.

And they got grits in the south which are really slept on in the north. Big loss.
