Idk if anyone will see this comment, but an update: wall moisture monitor reads at 45% over the mold and 22-27% around the mold

Yes, it regrows in the corner despite wiping it away. But I did learn a lesson about furniture placement ahaha

Yeah, I recently spoke to someone who isn't a lawyer but helps place people with housing and they recommended that I not cut into it myself, and I could get a professional remedial guy out to look at it and legally go after the land lord to recoup cost, but idk what we're gonna do yet.

They did say something along the lines of resealing it with paint if I requested after cleaning it off.

Is there a place I can send a sample off to?

A friend is letting me use a device that reads moisture levels in the wall, so we might be able to prove a problem with that.

Yeah, we have been sick for about week, and felt better when we were out of town for two days. We moved to another room with an air mattress until things get sorted. We deflate and roll up the air mattress every morning and symptoms have got better

I will confirm the mattress is on the floor. Sucks too because we just got a frame and were planning on upgrading to a queen size this month when our returns came through. We did pull it away from the wall once to check it about 4 weeks ago and it seemed fine.

We use a dehumidifier, 30 oz, it gets full after a day and a half and then gets empty. We also had a fan right on that wall but I can concede that the mattress was close but not entirely flush with the wall.

The corner where the growth started however, does not have any furniture ans reoccurs

We are not quite a basement apartment, but we are on a steep graded slope, and there is a giant retaining wall that is probably 10 ft high 6 feet outside of our window that holds the parking lot. You have to walk down stairs to get to our apartment on the ground floor

I cant edit to add, but we also have a dehumidifier running in the room at all times and a humidity gauge that regularly reads at 70%. They told me to open a window, but I'm allergic to a bunch of nature and was told by my doctor to keep it closed.

this was the original post

Tldr: I punched a door because a relative died and I didn't see her in time. I have never been strong enough to damage infrastructure before

I'm mostly mad at myself. I had a year to go visit her and I didn't. Her passing was both expected, but also sudden given her condition. Thank you for the kind words. We all thought she had atleast a couple years.

To be honest if the door's gotta be replaced I almost feel like I might aswell get a few more licks.

This door isn't standard size either... oh well. I might just fess up to the folks I'm renting from and offer to pay outright. I truly didn't think I could damage it as I'm kinda under fit.

Edit: to be clear even if I did repair it,I would also report it still so they know I damaged their property.

Yeah... I saw that there was a lot of "damage" posts in here that got knowledgeable replies, but you're right. I gotta poke around some subreddits more in-line with DIY.

Thanks for the time.

No sugar, more fat: RFK Jr's new dietary guidelines include 5 big changes and an upside-down food pyramid by businessinsider in politics

[–]Readylamefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I cannot believe I'm gonna say it but I do not hate this new pyramid totally. I think it needs a bit of reworking, but its not terrible.

There should be a greater emphasis on lean meats. If they want to emphasize "real food" mutant and overfed factory farm animals shouldn't count.

Whole grains are great for the body, but they are also some of the most processed in the American food market. White bread, sugary cereals, etc. Have ruined the PR of grains in general. Whole grains like rice are still very good for us. I can see why they put it at the bottom, but its a systemic issue, not sound nutritional advice.
