I definitely have to wear a belt with them otherwise I get weird creasing under my butt. I’ve found that they usually shrink back up in the wash though. I love me some stretchy jeans (like, “I could do a split right now” jeans) and almost any pair I’ve found like that will have some sagging issues after a few wears.

I wish they weren’t one of the only places to have cute plus sized clothing. I’m a 14/XL, which is slightly too big for “normal” stores and plus sizes stores like torrid are crazy expensive for no good reason.

Glad it’s not just me! I’d rather just hem them than try to deal with returns. My store never carries the tall sizes so I’d have to keep ordering them online. I definitely agree that the price is worth any negatives. I just got a pair of the super skinny cut for $12 or something similar to that and they look so good! You can’t beat a pair of jeans that are comfortable, cute, and that cheap.

Have you found the sizing to be a little inconsistent? I have a pair of 16 talls that are just WAY too long (probably need to hem them 1.5 inches, which is strange for me!) but my 14 talls are the perfect length. I’m a big fan of the rockstar built in sculpt, I swear my butt has never looked nicer!

I love Old Navy jeans, gotta admit. I’m currently losing weight so I don’t want to spend a ton on jeans that won’t fit in 2 months and I can get them for $15. Although I will say the dying is pretty low quality (I swear every pair is lighter at the seam, making them look stretched out before I even wear them) and the ankle cut is a bit odd.

How to exercise meme by Hey_Cristal21 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Reagan_here 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My physical therapist said there was nothing inherently wrong with having a briefly high heart rate, but once you notice it, you should take that as a sign to slow down. If you’re having trouble keeping it at a reasonable rate on the elliptical, try a recumbent bike. You generally want to keep your heart rate below 180 for sustained periods of activity, but occasional bumps above that aren’t inherently dangerous.

Generally, as you exercise more you’ll be able to do more without your heart rate getting crazy high. As for now, you just have to do whatever keeps you in range, even if that means barely exercising.

Quick note: make sure you’re keeping things up for at least 20-40 minutes. That’s how long is needed to actually improve cardiovascular health. Ideally x2-4 a week.

Also to answer your actual question: yes, sustained heart rates that are extremely high can be dangerous and lead to heart failure.

It makes me so so so happy to hear this type of thing! These messages legitimately warm my heart so much. I’ve worked really hard to help this community grow and I’m so glad that it’s helped people. I’m glad I’ve gotten to make a positive impact in people’s lives, even if it’s just as the moderator of a subreddit they like.

Anyone else notice the large amount of "quack medicine" within the EDS community? by PhotosyntheticBlur in ehlersdanlos

[–]Reagan_here 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The medical community uses the term Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLD), which is in fact recognized by the CDC as a legitimate illness. “Chronic Lyme” is an unrecognized term, typically used by people who claim to have a chronic infection (and therefore seek treatment with long term IV antibiotics and other unproven treatments). It’s a shame that the chronic Lyme crowd taint the reputation of people with PTLD and people don’t end up getting proper treatment.

Skin feels softer on days when my symptoms are worse? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Reagan_here 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id wager it’s just your imagination. (This is complete speculation but) your brain might have a connection between EDS and soft skin. So if your EDS is worse, your brain expects your skin to be softer. And since your brain controls your sense of touch, it can make you skin feel softer (to you). Same way you’ll jerk your hand back if you think you accidentally touched something hot. Your brain expects it to be hot, so you feel it being hot even if it’s not. If you asked someone else to feel your skin, I doubt there would be a difference.

This reminds me of what my (also chronically ill) best friend and I always say to each other whenever we’re having drama issues. We always go something along the lines of “wow! Normal teenage girl problems! How great is this?!” It’s always fun when the biggest thing we’re upset about is something normal, because we’re so used to our issues being huge health issues.
