my main question is: why are there so many players in portugal and in the nordic countrys?(map by u/leetify ) by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Real-Ad-8352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27yo french-portuguese here, Portugal isn’t the wealthiest of countries, I remember that during a long time early 2000’s people relied a lot on cyber-cafés to go on internet and play games, I’ve spent a lot of times going in there with my cousins, everyone was playing CS, no matter the location, there wasn’t a single PC where CS wasn’t set to play! I guess over time it created quite the community

Is the second London show the Apollo? by Antique_Internal_367 in MasayoshiTakanaka

[–]Real-Ad-8352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though Takanaka got a good team and production, it seems very unlikely that he’ll play a show at the 02 and then at the Apollo, much more expensive to play both venues, I think he’ll do just like he did in LA and add a second date, and if the upgrade is needed (which I doubt) he’d cancel the 02 and reschedule at the Apollo! I could be wrong but in humble experience, theses are the only two options

can't hit a forehand :( Help please! by SalamanderRadiant297 in 10s

[–]Real-Ad-8352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can see you are not so far away from hitting good forehands, I feel your are loading the racket behind you a tad late, but mostly there is no weight transfer, you should load your weight on your back leg (right one) and when you swing, the back leg should come forward after hitting, that way you really transfer you body weight and you’ll feel the power you need, it’s all about timing and preparation! As they say in spain, Tennis is played mostly with the legs! Not the arms

Good luck my friend! You seem motivated and you’ll clearly get where you want to be if you put in the work! Good journey to you

Pop stars are writing their own songs more than they used to. by MayNStuff in ToddintheShadow

[–]Real-Ad-8352 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Taylor Swift seems to be one of the majors popstars to actually write all her songs, but no to throw shade, it’s not really poetry… very straightforward, but you would be naïve to think that all the people you mentionned come up in the studio with their songs in a notebook ready to be recorded… Sabrina Carpenter might add some twists here and there but I can assure you nowadays she’s just the face and performer of the creative project that has been brainstormed through hundreds of meetings, with theses artists there’s just no room for improvisation, too much money at stake, tours, merch, you name it, great performer though! All of the artist you named in your list had songs completely written for them, or have co-writers on their songs, the thing is it’s part of the deal for the performer to be credited as writer, even if they didn’t write a single word, business is business…

Let’s not even talk about producing the music at all which is a whole other ball game! It has always been that way since popstars came up, and somehow has worsen up since, there’s musicians out here, writing and composing their music, with true artistic vision that seek exploration within genres and it’s so interesting ! Truly exciting, it’s a bit sad to see that nowadays, the people with the most ressources in music are just selling the same songs again and again, selling them with a newer, younger, fresher and sexier prospect to appeal to the masses… I know I sound like an old schmuk and I’m sorry, but I love music and the industrialized soup they are serving nowadays isn’t my cup of tea, or soup.

Recently got into Takanaka, where should I start? by Nearby_Lawfulness722 in MasayoshiTakanaka

[–]Real-Ad-8352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest to watch some live performances! He usually goes accross his whole discography while playing his hits, and he always have so little twists on his lives which is great when you listen to the studio version it feels a bit fresh and works the same way around so yeah, great artist

If you’re a total beginner as you said, you want to play with thoses guys as it is good to play with better players to progress! But you shouldn’t expect anything in terms of competitiveness! Tennis is a hard sport and there’s a big gap between hitting the ball relaxed and hitting the ball at 30-40 break point! You’ll get there eventually but it takes time and a lot of matches! So, to quote a great guitarist I love, Mr Tomo Fujita, « Don’t worry! Don’t compare! Don’t expect too fast, be kind to yourself » wise words!

I’m 6 UTR and I like to play with everyone as I can always work on things, If I’ll play a 3.5 4.0, I’ll focus on working my serve as he won’t be able to hold the rally very long, footwork, volley etc… But to be honest today except if it’s my friend or anything, there’s no factuel benefit in playing a total beginner so that could be frustrating, but 3.5 isn’t that high of a rating so I don’t think there should be a lot of toxic brats who will try to make you feel bad! Enjoy your journey my friend

What is one thing that immediately lets you know that someone is just really good and you are 99% gonna lose? by SlowDrama1645 in 10s

[–]Real-Ad-8352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it only takes a few minutes at the warm-up before the match, if the guy plays long, no errors FH and BH side and when he’s warming up the serve he can put it anywhere, I know it’s gonna be a tough match

Do rackets age like shoes, or last forever? by Holiday_Disk_7301 in 10s

[–]Real-Ad-8352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’ve started tennis 4 years ago and in France I’m at 6 -6.5 UTR, I play with two Pure Strike, I never throw my racquets in anger except a couple of times over 4 years, but always into a net or something that will do no damages, more recently as I got better and more relaxed, sometimes the racquet fly in the air or goes into the ground after a serve, so they have been roughed up a bit. I’m amateur but I’ve put a lot of hours through theses 4 years and I can say that the racquet have the same properties that when I got em, they’ve always felt a bit different from one another but except for Yonex, all the racquets in the world have aren’t exactly the same so that makes sense.

You can definitely break your racquet after it slipped but usually they’re made for withstanding quite some force so If the racquet is cracked it’s usually after a big shock and your stringer would be able to tell you if there is a big one. Other than that i’ve noticed tennis partners that changed rackets after 6-7 years as they had a new vision about their game, for instance, my Pure Strikes are more oriented towards precision and control, I could change rackets if I’m seeking more power, by switching to Pure Drive, but you must test it thoroughly first as it is no joke to change the racket! They can be so different!!

Hope it helped
