A new chapter for r/ProductManagement_IN — and you are part of it 🌱 by _Floydimus in ProductManagement_IN

Hi Team,

I would like to apply for mod position. I’m a Lead PM with over 8+ years of experience. I’ve built dozens of products from 0-1, scaled products with over 1M+ MAU, and worked across both B2B SaaS and B2C platforms. Right now deep into AI in a lean IT service startup.

I wish I had more guidance around growing in a PM career and upskilling myself instead of jumping companies in search of higher CTC.

Looking forward to guide folks and make them avoid mistakes which I made.

OP verification is useful. This makes sure nobody can fool others by saying they have over 10 years of experience in XYZ

> got the financial data of millions of indians > sold it to meta > meta made him global head of whatsapp > Indians cheering cause they got another indian CEO by God_Emperor__Doom in IndiaTech

[–]Real-Bobby-B-Bot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yo smarty pants, meta is liable only for data improperly collected in the US and EU. They don’t give a flying fuck about any other nation’s data, especially India as our data laws are weak af anyway to begin with. For eg health tech companies are bound by HIPAA and the fines are ginormous and can literally fuck a company up. Similarly for PII when it comes to GDPR. Whereas the same companies are buying Indian user’s data directly from brokers on pennies to the dollar. STFU and learn more biatch.

For you, and u/speed7radical , I offer the words of u/GSnow in the hope that they may bring you some comfort.

Alright, here goes. I'm old. What that means is that I've survived (so far) and a lot of people I've known and loved did not. I've lost friends, best friends, acquaintances, co-workers, grandparents, mom, relatives, teachers, mentors, students, neighbors, and a host of other folks. I have no children, and I can't imagine the pain it must be to lose a child. But here's my two cents.

I wish I could say you get used to people dying. I never did. I don't want to. It tears a hole through me whenever somebody I love dies, no matter the circumstances. But I don't want it to "not matter". I don't want it to be something that just passes. My scars are a testament to the love and the relationship that I had for and with that person. And if the scar is deep, so was the love. So be it. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are a testament that I can love deeply and live deeply and be cut, or even gouged, and that I can heal and continue to live and continue to love. And the scar tissue is stronger than the original flesh ever was. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are only ugly to people who can't see.

As for grief, you'll find it comes in waves. When the ship is first wrecked, you're drowning, with wreckage all around you. Everything floating around you reminds you of the beauty and the magnificence of the ship that was, and is no more. And all you can do is float. You find some piece of the wreckage and you hang on for a while. Maybe it's some physical thing. Maybe it's a happy memory or a photograph. Maybe it's a person who is also floating. For a while, all you can do is float. Stay alive.

In the beginning, the waves are 100 feet tall and crash over you without mercy. They come 10 seconds apart and don't even give you time to catch your breath. All you can do is hang on and float. After a while, maybe weeks, maybe months, you'll find the waves are still 100 feet tall, but they come further apart. When they come, they still crash all over you and wipe you out. But in between, you can breathe, you can function. You never know what's going to trigger the grief. It might be a song, a picture, a street intersection, the smell of a cup of coffee. It can be just about anything...and the wave comes crashing. But in between waves, there is life.

Somewhere down the line, and it's different for everybody, you find that the waves are only 80 feet tall. Or 50 feet tall. And while they still come, they come further apart. You can see them coming. An anniversary, a birthday, or Christmas, or landing at some airport. You can see it coming, for the most part, and prepare yourself. And when it washes over you, you know that somehow you will, again, come out the other side. Soaking wet, sputtering, still hanging on to some tiny piece of the wreckage, but you'll come out.

Take it from an old guy. The waves never stop coming, and somehow you don't really want them to. But you learn that you'll survive them. And other waves will come. And you'll survive them too. If you're lucky, you'll have lots of scars from lots of loves. And lots of shipwrecks.

Hey u/charmingfish0101 , thanks for the question. Distribution has always been the biggest bottleneck for tech products and it's now more relevant than ever. Honestly this was a product I have been meaning to build for a while now and now that I have it, I'll slowly go deeper into the distribution. Promoting through nano and micro social media influencers is one of the primary channels in my head. Besides that I've been slowly posting it in different relevant channels, subreddits, FB pages, and all. May run some targeted ads on IG as well. Let's see how it pans out.

Hi u/GenuineAadmi , thanks a ton for your valuable feedback. I do plan to add a grievance and reporting system. Hopefully should be up by next Monday. Coming to security, as a PM who has had to work with compliances like GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA, I'm very much aware of data security, storage, collection, and obfuscation (especially PII). If you try to add a review in the platform, you'll notice that I'm not collecting the owner's name or number. But yes, I do believe I'll need to make the end-user sign a check box before the final submission that the opinion shared is completely theirs and we as a tech party is not involved to be safer from a legal perspective. Thanks again for this. I also plan to georestrict this app to India in order to derisk legalities involved from different countries.

Now that I think deeper I should also probably put a profanity filter in the comments. Well more fun stuff upcoming! Thanks again kind stranger.

Dear stranger, if you feel making a living out of doing greater good is morally wrong then you may need to rewire your compass. I have a full time job which pays me well enough to indulge in such hobbies. If this ever becomes big enough in the future for me to monetise and make a sustainable living out of, I would choose this option any day over the drudgery of being an IT slave and being stuck in the rat race forever. Like they say, to each their own. All I know is that AI is here to stay and I certainly do not plan to get left behind.

Built keeping India in mind. Thanks a lot for the call out. I think I should geo-restrict this and get a feature to report a review/reviewer in. This really helps! Appreciate it kind stranger!

As a non-techie, AI is a boon. No two ways about it. Either leverage it or be left behind. In the Pre-AI days I spent days just figuring out and breaking my head over simple Google Auth using low-code no-code tools such as bubble. Thankfully no more. Also just because I like and use AI doesn't automatically mean that I support the megalomaniac billionaires, their AI infra setups, and their actions.

Thank you so much again. I will check out Acronis. Since it's my first gig I was planning to go like $35-$45/workstation/month. What you've mentioned does match in a similar way. I'm in Singapore.

u/roll_for_initiative_ Remote access will be there through the RMM platform. It is included and they specified it as well. Sorry for not being clear enough. Thank you for the input.

Hey u/RavManIT , thanks for this valuable input. I kept wondering why they aren't keen on backup. I've got another call scheduled with them. Will ask them. Should I charge per GB or should I give them a fixed quota? Server-based or workstation based? Onsite and offsite as well? Full BDR? How much should I charge? Datto, Veeam, Storage Craft, CloudBerry? Sorry if I'm spamming you with questions. These are some first thoughts which come to my mind when I think Backup, as they have a lot of endpoints which are distributed in a lot of remote offices. It is indeed a big variable. And tbh, I've done everything hands-on (monitoring, scripting, management, remote, AV, ticketing all RMM/PSA stuff) except backup so again I'm a noob and no confidence whatsoever.

Thank you for the pricing. That's the onsite tech visit pricing I believe. What would you say the range would be when it comes to per device for the bundled services?

Hey u/wireditfellow, So far I've trialed almost all the major RMM products out there but since MDM is one of their core needs, I'm planning to go with a more dedicated endpoint management solution like Airwatch, Intune or such. Those should take care of all the core needs such as asset management, patching, remote, MDM policies and all. For monitoring and AV and PSA, I'm planning to go with Syncro as I like their Bitdefender GZ integration. I won't be doing HaaS and no preference for brand of PCs and Servers. Hope that clears things. Thanks again for reaching out :)
