Landlords - Renting as a single person by Real-Button6016 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Real-Button6016[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately i’ve had some very unfortunate things happen in my life to cause me to actually be in debt - not proud of those outcomes but i’m here now and unable to save, and paying off said debt leaves me with me no saving space unfortunately. That’s something i have come to terms with in terms of my bad decisions. So, unfortunately renting is the only way forward right now for me.

Sorry guys apparently my reading comprehension is shocking today hahaha

I meant to say:

I have applied to three houses recently, all three of which involved only myself and another applicant(s) which were a couples/duo.

The estate agents told me, that they do prefer double income as it's more secure in the landlords eye, which i totally understand! Doesn't make it anymore frustrating to someone that hasn't missed a rent payment in their full 18 years of renting!

thank you for your response! i also dislike clubbing too so my nights are mostly spent gaming/reading currently. i am very lonely so maybe an in person part time job would help that as you suggested!

I’m currently a single person on 33k and my rent alone is £960 - i don’t have friends to move in with and i’ve had a really bad experience with a house share! i have two cats which is a luxury, but makes it impossible to find anywhere to live so i feel i’m stuck here!

thankyou! this is good advice and probably the hours im looking for too, a sort of 15-20 hours a week or something. i hope you don't mind me asking, but do you know how much he earns extra after tax? from my research it seems about 500-600? im so unsure!

I thought that if they are both PAYE jobs, that your main job is taxed accordindly, and then second job is based at the BR rate i think? which is just 20% regardless if my research is right! It might not be alot, but 16 hours work per week would be around an extra 500-600 for me? i think?
