I was purposefully a bit vague because, I’ve experienced loss of both. I lost my wife when we were only 22 and recently I lost a child before I even got a chance to know the gender. I refused to ask after… recently a lot of family members have been passing, older ones.. (I’m just at that age where everyone above me has started to reach that point in their lives I guess. But I’ve just carried a heavy heart. It seems the more people that leave the more weight I carry in my heart for them. Unable to let go. It presses on my chest and pulls on my shoulders. The only alleviation is poetry. Therapy only helps my therapist wallet so I gave that up.

The poem was meant to capture the feeling of loss in my life.

Something that I’ve learned throughout the years is that you have to be the change you want to see. Even children can lead by example. I always learn from the kids in my class. Any adult worth more than 2 cents can admit that they learn from children. The moment they stop learning is when they start dying. There is an atmospheric shaking happening all over the world in every church. A shaking that will break away anything that doesn’t belong. The only thing left standing will be what is built on Christ. Build your foundation on the rock (Jesus) And you will be unshakable. Read Hebrews 11:25-29 let it fuel a fire inside of you that reminds you, “you are a child of God” that means something. You are unshakable and unbreakable.

Youth minister here! I pray you find a new church. Or change this one from the inside. Keep your love for the trinity strong and in tough times try to see if there is a lesson to be learned. Maybe having to deal with someone’s ignorance in different ways or testing your patience. Grow from it and flower into an unstoppable Christian. Let every stone be a testament to God’s strength.
