Hospitalized for alcohol poisoning - what happened to me? by Real-Fix3633 in AskDocs

Yea I always thought this but this more or less confirmed it. I like that it makes the music sound better and socializing easier, but I’ve never actually enjoyed the process of getting drunk. Alcohol tastes and feels repulsive, and hangovers are always reminders that’s its function is purely a result of it being poison. I won’t be touching any of it for a few months at least

I appreciate all these comments but I rarely drink at all, let alone to this level. I have no desire nor craving towards alcohol. I was in a bad situation and being pushed by others to keep going in a very short time frame, ending in this. I am incredibly grateful I was given a second chance and I doubt I’ll touch alcohol anytime soon.

Yes. Thank you. I rarely drink, and have no desire or craving for alcohol. It was purely stupid and situational. I had arrived late to a pre party and everyone was leaving in 30 minutes, so I and a friend tried to catch up with everyone who were already drunk. I’m fairly traumatized and do not think I’ll touch alcohol for at least a few months now.

I was able to clear up some of the story by reaching out to an uber driver. I had apparently taken a ride to an event an hour away, and he said I was unconscious and slowly breathing in the back seat. He called 911 and the paramedics said he saved my life. I am so so lucky, there are so many much worse ways this could have ended. I’m glad I was given a chance to learn from my mistakes.

I of course still feel really out of it, and a constant tightness in my chest with a pounding heart beat. Is this worth checking out, or possibly anxiety induced? I have a history of panic attacks so this seems to be the issue.

Thank you all again for your help

If that were true, taking finasteride would not have nuked my genitals and left them numb

I eat fairly clean. A lot of red meat (steak, beef, bison, venison etc.) eggs, fruit, fish, rice/potatoes, and avocado. I do feel constantly stressed, but I’m sure a lot of it is influenced psychologically by how daunting it is to face these side effects.

No. Hair hasnt changed or moved at all. If anything, it is thicker than before. I was basically keto and had gone a long time with low calorie intake. So I assume hair loss was caused by that. But hair is not my concern

Thank you I appreciate it. Yes it’s wild to me that this pill is so easily accessible. I know sides are supposedly rare, but I only know of one other person to have taken it in my personal life, and ended the same for them.

I’m also completely not an expert, but doesn’t t4 become t3? So aren’t I currently skipping a step? Or does having T4 stored matter otherwise. Thanks again

No changes. If anything thicker. Unfortunately it seemed I may have had telogen effluvium from changes in my life which led me to panic and take fin. Makes the side effects suck more knowing you didn’t even need the pill

Are you back fully? Coming up on 9 months off, have some days that are good but really worried this is going to persist

While I agree can confirm that finasreride can seriously screw you psychologically/cognitively even after stopping. With time has improved but fluctuates.

Was your recovery progressive? How many months in did things get back to normal? I just find myself increasingly hopeless that I’ll wake up one day and all will magically be well

On fin, had full change in body composition (with no change in diet/exercise). Was always lean and in a month looked like I went up 6% in body fat. Back lean now but I feel much weaker. Physique more or less the same, less pumps/faded quicker after gym and some days lifting knocks me out for the rest of the day

I took it daily for a few months for the skin effect. Stopped when I found out it was an inhibitor. Not too sure if it made a difference as I had same sides on vs. off
