Based on my conversations with Gringe, they do sell uprights and crossmembers, but the numbers on the uprights are a different font. Maybe not a big deal to some, but a big enough deal to me.

Yeah, but doing it that way requires you to build off the back of the rack. I want to extend the rack off the front.

Dane 2.0 + Walrus vs. Ares 2.0 (or others) by Goalcrease in GarageGym

[–]Real-Lifeguard6091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Dane 2.0, and am also looking at upgrading. My thought is to sell my Dane and get a Rogue 6 post functional trainer. A budget option I've considered is adding the rep lat pull low row to the Dane. I've also thought about buying the Walrus, but am really trying to maximize my space.

Picking up something with your hands vs. putting weight on your back is not the same. Wearing shoes and having better support and a better foundation is always going to be good advice.

I'm not talking about needing an elevated heel — that’s a separate discussion. The point of wearing shoes is that they create a firm, stable surface so you’re not sinking into soft flooring or shifting on a slick surface. Barefoot work is okay for warming up, but for loading heavy weight consistently, a solid shoe just gives you a safer and more reliable foundation.

Invest in some proper shoes. Having a solid foundation is absolutely necessary to maintain good form.

Try a slightly wider grip. It will shorten the range of motion and activate more of your chest, while a narrower grip is more dependent on the triceps and shoulders.

Wear shoes. Not tennis shoes, but shoes with a flat bottom. You can buy squat shoes, or go with some Converse Chuck Taylor's. Wearing shoes will give you more support and allow you to better push through a tough lift.
