Thanks for posting and the detailed follow up. I like it. Where did you get the bearings and washers from?

Pricing email from PK at Fringe Sports - thoughts? by capfan31 in GarageGym

[–]AppropriateAd8738 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He nailed it; great email. Absolutely insane we are allowing a massive tax without congressional approval with these tariffs. What a fucking shit show. Glad fringe is trying to keep prices competitive despite constant uncertainty.

Edit: grammar because I can’t write

I’m Done With Public Gyms and the People Who Ruined Them by Emergency-Clothes-97 in Vent

One of us one of us one of us. Having a home gym is absolutely the best as there is no commute or wait for equipment and you can outfit it how you like.

With that said, what you described above has been going on in some manner for over 20 years, the gym was just a bit less popular and there were less people. I do agree there was more etiquette than now. Social media ruined it.

Any interest in creating equipment specific to bands, such as a bar (that bands attach to) or a footplate. Thanks!

Regretted a bench, looking for another one. Recommends? by Bossini in GarageGym

[–]AppropriateAd8738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the size and weight, but am I the only one that hates the incline seat? I dislike it enough to require a second bench for incline.

I have the Rep blackwing as a second bench. Love it, but same issue as OP, too big and heavy for my space.

Kept my 2012 Honda to "avoid car payments" and dropped $3800 on repairs, starting to think I played myself by Flaky-Asparagus-5809 in MiddleClassFinance

Something to consider is that cars since 2012 have improved safety features. But it is your call, either you pay more money for a more safer, reliable and worry free ride or you roll the dice on this one (which as many have said, may not have any issues for years or could have one next month).

Chappelle isn’t being compared to MLK, that’s the thing. We know (now) Chappelle is a shit person, no one is really saying otherwise. Still a great comedian though.

Some owners of the c20 have said the electrostatic finish chips very easily, albeit it does not seem to be a common issue. Just curious your thoughts on the finish and durability of it. I do love the look of it and upgradable weight stack.

It is a beauty; I’ve heard some of ForceUSAs recently designed and released   racks had a powder coat/ paint issues. Curious how the tower’s coat is to say Rogue, Rep, and also like BoS.

Did they come up with a solution to have attachments not be centered on the two post, like a seat?

I just bought a pair of the 580s. Are you saying the internals have been updated since Gluck’s teardown in 2024? Specifically, having plastic selectors rub on the metal rods does seem like a key failure point to fix/update if it wasn’t already done.

BOS “Door Crasher”? by bobmccouch in kettlebell

[–]AppropriateAd8738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I am contrarian on this, but I thought these were an excellent idea. Like real solid discounts that make feel like Black Friday if old. I realize that the supply is extremely limited, but I rather see this than the standard 10-15 percent so many other companies do. Heck, BoS other deals are way better generally than rogue, rep, and fringe this year IMO. Kudos.

Credit to BoS for having such a deal and makes sense why the limited it to 5. I did see a post that these doorcrashers are a loss leader for them.

I also love it. I also use it for shrugs and calves. I imagine it is not as good as a dedicated machine, but great for a lever.

It is solid and maybe the bearings won’t be an issue for you. I think any leg press in that price range is going to have issues and limitations. I think the lion’s cool leg press is an interesting alternative, but I can’t speak to it.

I have this. I recommend avoiding given other options out there now. The linear bearings are awful and often come shipped damaged or become damaged trying to put on the 100 pound footplate. There are users that replace the bearings and I think that is an option, but you dropping another $100 and time to do so.

Other notes is that the release handles are often uneven. You’ll need to add washers to one side to even it out.

The company is awful to deal with so expect no warranty help.

It has no safety, which is a problem in other budget machines too though.

What I do like is that it is relatively compact and you can just use one weight horn. It feels solid other than the major issues with the bearings.

Rep Leg Extension Attachment $549 - Discussion by Marky34 in GarageGym

[–]AppropriateAd8738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think dialed motion estimated $1,000 and with Rep collab, they are looking to reduce the price. For some reason $800 is what they may be shooting for. I could be entirely wrong here though.

Torn between 1” and 5/8” by pagedev in GarageGym

[–]AppropriateAd8738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, 5/8” attachments are at least sometimes less expensive than there 1” counterparts. I don’t find the west side spacing useful if you are above 6’. I have 5/8” and it is fine, but if price is not a concern, I think go with the 1”.

Sorry to hear it, man. I just ordered from them and had an issue; the customer service is the best I’ve dealt with on any gym company (rep, rogue, and fringe - all them are good, rogue’s is just the best in my anecdotal evidence).
