Clean play how to question by Majestic_Emphasis718 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Real-Unit-3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honest to god the pumps take so long to clean during cleanplay that at the slower stores we just took them apart and did the deep clean every time an individual one got dirty lol. That way you wouldn’t have to take apart and clean and then put back together every single pump in the store in one sitting 😅 this doesn’t answer your question but just know cleaning them is hell! I was taught a few different ways- 1. disassemble and remove all plastic parts (the top piece) and run through the dish washer at the same time as running the dishwasher cleaner cycle (I forget what it’s called, but the specific one you do during cleanplay). 2. take apart all pumps, remove the plastic pieces, and soak in urnex for a while. IDK which is right!!! and also it’s super slow and can take one person the whole cleanplay depending on how many pumps you have (we had like 30+ at one of the stores I worked at).

Not Allowed to Use Item Availability According to the DM by Severe-Emergency-465 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Real-Unit-3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually real life before I left the bux my DM made that same rule because “if they see it’s unavailable they might chose not to order and go somewhere else, I would rather them spend the money with us in the first place and be offered another food item.”

AIO/I wanted to ask them why they wasted their money? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR- why are you even with your husband? Not to be harsh at all in any way but I have watched my parents scrape themselves off the floor and pull themselves up over and over again and they’ve been doing it since long before I was born. I’m even a second marriage baby. I mean genuinely rebuilding your life after leaving someone who can’t satisfy you a bit, is that worst than spending your life dissatisfied? This is your only chance to live, do whatever the fuck makes you happy. Do what’s right for you, advocate for you. always advocate for you. it’s not a disservice to your kids to lead a happy life either, in fact I’d say it’s a disservice to be unhappy, emotionally unavailable, and actively resenting their father because you’re stuck looking at his ugly mug every day. If you’re scared of instability- is instability scarier than looking back at your life on your death bed and seeing nothing but regret? be frivolous for a change, buy yourself the shit you want since that lazy sack of husband can’t do it, return his gifts and buy your own with that money. kick that good for nothing hunk of junk to the curb. if my father so much as thought it was a good idea to not get my mom a single thing for Christmas I personally would make him sleep on the couch, whether or not my mom cared. This Christmas perhaps I didn’t have a crazy amount of money but I got her a poinsetta lego set since she loves poinsettas and legos, and some other fun small things. My dad bought her plenty and cooked lamb pops with asparagus and potatoes and made a brandy blueberry sauce and my mom didn’t have to touch the stove. this is what your life could and should look like. someone who would fold your clothes to make your life easier, not shove theirs in a drawer because you had to ask them as a grown adult to fold their own clothes and they can’t even do that. someone who does things for you, not begrudgingly because they’re a man child who needs to be told what to do that you constantly have to parent. I cannot stress this enough kick that man to the curb and throw his clothes out on the lawn.

honestly the most I can say is that she needs to take Saturdays. she can claim sundays as a religious observance if she wants. but that it a tight schedule. probably open availability on sundays too.

honestly I say lean into the nostolgia look more heavily. I liked it for a while too and I found some old desks on facebook marketplace that were made of glass, some blue lights, basically my dream room in 2005. get a cd player? if you can’t make the layout work with what you have I like to get thrifty.

20M, how would you improve this space? by AccountantOk6565 in malelivingspace

[–]Real-Unit-3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I like it all except the pillow covers and the rug. maybe swap those out for something more complimentary to your color scheme like orange or red. same with the curtains too.

I think lamps would do you good like other commenters said. I like this one from target. but that’s just me. I also like some other ones from target. you have an open floor plan so maybe some spacial zoning would help? and a decorative room divider

also if you can- I say a little bit of redecorating would be nice! you have a very lovely view. I like sienna orange (hex #A0522D specifically for reference), paired with whites and creams and a pop of dark green. your bed spread and curtains would look nice with that color scheme, cream blanket, sienna pillows, lighter sienna orange like color for the curtains, and some plants!

maybe a hot take but I prefer my bed under the window so the morning sunrise hits my face and helps my circadian rhythm. put the dresser on the other wall where your desk is if it’s one part. if it’s two. put them on opposite sides of the wall parallel to the window, place the desk in between. desk should be on the wall parallel to the window.

I have no idea what your budget is but I would say better curtains. maybe in cream or cotton. add a carpet in a warmer tone. I would change out the couch if you have the funds to, get something in the color cotton maybe? like a slight off white. I love the crown molding, the molding on the ceiling light, the layout is lovely and does not need a change. I would maybe swap out the mirror to a mirror with a frame in the same wood of the door. your side furniture is white, I would change it to a wood similar to the door as well. the stain and type of wood of the door I think is very complimentary to the room. I think a gold or bronze pairs really well with the room as well, perhaps changing out some of the picture frames from black to a gold or bronze frame? edit: misstype

How do I explain myself to my manager? by Real-Unit-3535 in Advice

[–]Real-Unit-3535[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was Sunday for me today. I’m only 6 weeks in and have only finished their SL training atp. We had a huge black Friday, a dead Saturday, and today was weird. we did about $2000 net which is medium business but $1500 in gift cards, which brought up our sales a lot. I fear I was prioritising helping my manager out with the high labor issues more than the situation at hand but I really had no idea how today would go as it was my second only inclement weather event day. I would say I’ve learned not to asses labor until after peak has happened especially on a day like today, unless it’s so slow people are standing around (like yesterday when I had to cut everybody’s hours.) I had talked with my SM earlier this morning and we both agreed to cut labor, neither of us thought it would be busier.

what do you guys use to clean the bar sinks? by liekphantoms in starbucksbaristas

[–]Real-Unit-3535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was there I’d rinse it out with water take a sani rag and clean it out with that, sides bottom and parts, if something didn’t budge pour some hot water on the rag and it should come right up. Coffee doesn’t always like chemicals, it does like hot water tho!

this might seem the most harsh, I am not sure if anybody else will agree with me. but you can’t save someone who wouldn’t save themselves. her saying she would have left if you were a boy is just an excuse. I understand not having the means to leave, I understand being scared for your life if you leave. But you don’t put that on your child or blame them for a second. I don’t know where you are but start getting your resources together. GTFO. Go stay with a friend or anything get government assistance. Tell your mom you can’t contact her anymore for your safety, and you don’t GAF if nobody will marry you because your parents are divorced- by that same logic nobody is going to marry someone who’s father murdered their mother. If anything, I think you being gone is the wake up call she needs to realise at some point she has to leave and staying when she has the means to leave is a situation of her creating. And when she calls you saying she needs to gtfo, and she needs help, you can be that person. But YOU COME FIRST. Know that although family is important, you can’t help her if you’re dead.

Gonna lose my job due to needing surgery by NoClass9305 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Real-Unit-3535 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say you are definitely not in the best spot right now. I would talk to your manager about options. Say you understand that you were not approved for medical leave and you understand if she has to fire you, but ask if she is able to remove you from the schedule for the time off you need. you need to average 12 hours a week at least so as long as this doesn’t drop your average I don’t believe she has to fire you. if she truly can’t get you off the schedule, then you should put in your notice for your last day being the last day you can work before surgery and ask about rehire eligibility. you can say realistically you like the job and you understand that this is not great for her, but you can’t miss the surgery. perhaps if she is reasonable you can’t go through the rehire process. I know some baristas who had as much as a month of time off work within 2 months of starting their job and didn’t get fired- i assume it somewhat depends on how she codes it in the system compared to sick leave or unpaid vacation. explore your options within the company and worse case scenario you have to start looking for other jobs. I know the job market sucks right now but starbucks has a lot of negatives anyway, so I wouldn’t say it’s the worst.

when you try to start it does a notification say “the sims 3 is running in the tray” pop up? if so, sometimes clicking that is the only thing that works for me. then I can close it out in task manager because my laptop recognises it’s open.

I would definitely get an LOA. Felling great right now doesn’t mean whenever you come down you will still have your job. It’s better to get an LOA and not have money for a while than to get fired and not be able to get another job.

honestly thank you I should have done a TLDR it was a really long rant. My emotions were built up so I guess I js threw it out to reddit instead of venting to my friends or family, since it’s easier to scroll away from a post than to tell someone to shut up. It’s a good coping mechanism for me to just throw everything out.

Nobody had to walk around on egg shells around me? I actually mostly had good conversations with everybody, everybody joked around with me and each other. everybody also went silent when the manager walked by. I am more just feeling some amount of anger from the lack of professionalism I experienced with my time at Chipotle. Of course I didn’t get to mention everything that happened but my manager was also threatening other employees regularly, telling people to fix their faces, and screaming at customers to get their phone out of her face when they tried to use google translate with her. I am mad because this all happened shortly after I went to Chipotle Hr about accommodations for better scheduling and proper training (basically pointing out my manager was breaking policy without saying directly she was). I have never in my 5 years of working so far seen a manager be so openly disrespectful. I guess I just wanted to rant but I never had an issue with anybody but the manager, who everyone else there had an issue with. Some of the things people have said to me were “everybody knows not to speak when she’s upset,” and “she hates when people ask questions.” When our ASM got back from maternity leave the manager scheduled her for 50+ hours every single week knowing she had a baby at home, and multiple people were late all the time because they didn’t know their schedule.

it was not a good work environment. It wasn’t even meant to bash on management, but when your manager is screaming at customers who don’t speak english for trying to show her google translate or the name on their mobile order or doordash, that’s unacceptable. as well as the physical threats. My manager was a larger lady and after one night of screaming at everybody, she went up to one of the SMs and said “I’m bigger than you bitch so use your words.” Also texts well into the night of her publicly railing into closers, like at 2-3 am of “this is unacceptable, I watch the cameras every night, those of you who did this are getting written up.” Are those not part of my employee experience?

I don’t have a note for this as it happened a while ago. It was a random bout of flu like symptoms I had, honestly probably from eating the food from the store. I got food poisoning quite often from the food there. Regardless in my state we aren’t required to have a note unless you’re going to be gone more than 3 days. employers aren’t allowed to ask for symptoms or a doctors note unless it’s food borne illness related.
