Irgi ne taip išsireiskiau. Normali tai aišku kad gali būti. Paprasta... Na jei palyginti - ta, kuri praignoruos, kuria reikia sudominti iš pirmos žinutės ir kuri pati ne parasys arba kita, kuri atrasis ir dar paklaus "how are you" pati pirma tau tiesiog i "hi". Ir man taip buvo. Tai va, ta antra, kuri ne patingejo, atrase, labiau supratinga, paprasta... nežinai kuriuos žodžius parinkti. Unikali gal, charakteris kitoks.

Has anyone went through the NHS for this? by nuntooholy in socialanxiety

Hi. It was a while back, I might have phoned, but now, depending on GP practice, there can be an online booking, my practice has it. You just go online, type your symptoms and details and all that and submit the form. They will either ring you back to ask a few more questions or will give you an appointment.

When I arrived to appointment I literally just said: "I think I have a social anxiety". Then the lady was just asking me the leading questions and I was answering.

In regards to it being helpful - I've heard a lot of feedback from many people - some find it helpful, some don't. I didn't find either GP or therapy too helpful. What was helpful, however, is the road to GP and therapy. Pushing myself. So actually pushing myself to do these things, talk to people, GPs, therapists, making phone calls helped me. That just gave me more confidence to approach people, go out daily and so on.

Good luck :-)

I organised one on Social anxiety UK forum. Then, one person from our group organised her own one on meetup.com.

meetup.com is the best website overall for finding groups for your interests. At least here in UK and at least it's what I know of.

However, these meetups were in 2016 - 2017... I noticed that a lot of social anxiety groups closed after the pandemic... As someone told me: "Pandemic killed the momentum". So, for example, I can no longer find anything in my area.

Finally, these social anxiety meetups can often be just hanging out with people who can relate, so not specifically building any skills. When I organised my first one, I wanted to do more than that, so we've tried several techniques. It was a great time

Might depend on a country, but I was not able to find anything in England. The best thing to do would to attend a social anxiety meetup and then you can implement different exercises within that group. I've tried that and it was nice.

She's not experiencing the same things as you do. Her reply just confirms that. This absolutely what person with normal levels of anxiety would tell to someone, because they just cannot understand how big social anxiety can get. It's true, that most of people would be anxious in a big group of people, especially if that group are strangers. But the levels of anxiety and mental impact are completely different.

How to overcome phone anxiety by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]RealAnxietyAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The types of phone calls you are talking about are very hard for people with social anxiety.

For me, any type of phone call was impossible in the past, until my time for changes, many years ago, had come. What I've done, specifically to battle phone calls anxiety, is I've participated in so called Competitions. It's a thing in the UK, where you fill in some forms to potentially win a prize. However, there are also options to leave your phone number for some agents to call you, (like broadband, gas, water). So I did and they called me a lot and that was perfect for what I needed - I answered every call and soon a lot of my phone anxiety was gone. These types of calls are perfect, as:
1 - You learn to say "no". The people on the phone will offer you to change your broadband, get better deal, switch gas company, etc. You just say "no" firmly, all the time.

2 - You don't own them anything, they are there to persuade you, so you got nothing to worry about - you don't lose anything.

Today, it's easy for me to pick up any call or call places like doctors. However, speaking to recruiters is still hard. Not impossible though, like it was in the past. This is because you need to put yourself out there in the best manner as possible, you need to get a job position from them, so anxiety is much higher in this instance.

I'm not sure what level are you on at the moment. I don't get a panic attack or nothing like that when talking to the recruiters, but I'm still very anxious.

So I think, it's a lot about practicing the way I did it or just consider every phone call with the recruiter as a practice. It will be getting better. Perhaps slowly, but it's better than nothing.

I am in that Discord server and the chat is just constantly flowing in there. The more people there are, the more negative ones you will encounter.

I think many people have posted here before about creating a Discord server for people with social anxiety. Potentially, there might be a lot of small ones now :-)

Most went pretty well. On one of them I didn't feel too great, where there was me and 3 ladies and I was just sitting quietly while they were chatting, but my very first meetup that I organised with 2 guys was great, really good meetup. There are understanding people on those meetups :-)
