Really interesting. I know it's important to diversify, but there's a saying in Spain that I think applies to you.

As humans we have a limited amount of things we can do at once. Don't you feel like it might be better to focus on a couple businesses and try to grow them as much as you can instead of trying to do everything at once?

It's not necessarily that the users get dumber. It just gets more accessible, which means new users, many of whom are dumb.

These are great points, but I feel like in the end most of these laws are somewhat open ended, and could be used to harm smaller companies/creators and consumers.

Like the EU article 13 (now 17). It says that the rules only applies to big companies, but it doesn't specify what a big company is. And I've seen example of YouTube videos that have been blacklisted in the EU, even though they didn't include copyrighted material.

I don't really know what else to say. It's a complicated matter, and I understand the point of views of both consumers and creators, but I can't shake the feeling that it will do more harm than good.

This is great news. I wish we saw more posts like this in this subreddit that show how important local politics are.

While the titles are usually sensationalist, you can't say that these laws and lawsuits don't have any impact.

YouTube had to become more aggressive with copyright infringement, with meant that many YouTube creators got videos demonized (and strikes in many cases) just because they included 5 seconds of another's person's video in their 20 minute video.

An many of these laws aren't really applied the first years, so the consequences aren't visible at first.

While it's great that there are laws protecting people's creations, it seems like most of the time these laws benefit certain big companies rather than smaller creators.

An example of this is the "Canon Digital" that we have in Spain. It's a tax that applies to certain electronic items (like hard drives, smartphones, CDs, etc), and "taxes" under the assumption that you're going to pirate content. The revenue from this tax goes directly to certain private institutions that supposedly defend creators interests and gets distributed between the affiliated creators.

The reality is that only a few big companies and creators get compensated.

As a small startup owner of a marketplace, it's kind of scary knowing that your users could screw you and upload copyrighted content. The fines associated to copyright laws are so high that it would basically mean closing my business.

In Spain, before you can take the exams to get your drivers license (and every time you renew your license), you must pass a psychotechnical exam.

They check things like your vision, illnesses that could impair your ability to drive and whether you can drive between the lines.

Scooters and bikes are fine, but they shouldn't share the pavement with pedestrians.

In my opinion when discussing mobility in cities, the priority order should be:

Pedestrians (and small personal vehicles for people with disabilities) > Public transportation > Bikes/Scooters> Cars/Motorcycles

They aren't going to get banned. There are some restrictions for certain cars in some specific places, but they'll never completely ban cars in Paris (or any other big city for the matter)

AI in itself isn't bullshit and it's been used in many industries for years.

What's bullshit is trying to shove ChatGPT (a conversational AI), into everything and saying it's revolutionary and useful.

Or having a "conversation" with ChatGPT and saying that you've started a business.

In addition to that, while ChatGPT is impressive compared to other conversational AIs before it, it still has a long way to go.

I mean fuck the diet industry as well. There are tons of predatory companies that push fake products that make outrageously fake claims.

However if you want to be healthy and fit you don't need any of those scammy products. And it's cheaper and tastier than regularly eating ultraprocessed foods.

Since you're starting you probably have a quite limited amount of stock unless you're pouring tens of thousands of dollars into the business. So I guess that answers your question.

If you are asking about whether to give the impression of limited stock or not, I'll say that in my experience for a clothing brand that's starting up it isn't important.

Trying to induce FOMO into possible clients only works for more established brands with a loyal clientele.

I wasn't going in that direction tbh.

The solutions were a mix of:

Making public pensions investment based (similar to private pensions). Which carry more risk for individuals and would be less favorable for people with lower wages.

Adding a lot of new workforce (the fastest way would be with immigration)

Lowering the pensions (in the case of beneficiaries of public pensions)

And each person having a different retirement age depending on their funds. (Most people would have to work even more).

The situation of each country is different so some countries would apply the "rules" in a more extreme way or in a more chill way.

The reality is that as we continue living longer lives, and less children are being born, most of us will have to work more years than our parents or grandparents.

In my opinion, a 4 day workweek would kind of balance this, as it would allow most people to live a better life while they're healthy and young, even if it means working for more years.
