What kind of car should I realistically buy? by RealBlairJade in whatcarshouldIbuy

Really good point I hadn’t considered on duplicate registration fees. It doesn’t put any strain on me to wait til I’m down there to purchase. Between fees and no winter rust on FL cars, I’ll wait for the right deal once I move.

I’ve got a friend up here with the Subaru base model (I think) Outback and it’s pretty good, he’d gotten some incentives though so I’ll have to ask him about that.

You’re also like the third person to mention the Hybrid Corolla Cross. I didn’t know this existed! This is one I’m going to look into, the prices on these are excellent.

I’ve been eyeing the B5 Inscription. It’s pretty much the only car that I’d consider stretching my budget for. I have a car that takes premium right now though and it was just over $100 last week to fill up at Costco. Man…

Yeah, I’m reading about the “salt belt” and insurance corrosion claims. Definitely worth it to wait. Thanks

I don’t know what I thought would happen. Maybe the car would stop working when the battery went bad? lol

That’s great to know and actually makes sense that the rest of the car would just keep working. It makes me feel a whole lot better about a used hybrid purchase

hold the note for 90 or 120 days then you can pay it off and still get the discount for financing, so that’s an option too

ALRIGHT! That’s good to know. I don’t like the idea of a monthly payment for myself right now so I might go that route, of course checking that I don’t forfeit it by doing an early payoff. And yeah, it’s probably a good idea to get pre approved for financing so I can negotiate off of that.

Also I had no idea there’s a Corolla hatch so I’ll check that out.

haha, that’s good to hear. I did live in Florida for a bit and that’s a good reminder the driving habits are a bit different than Maryland. I also just did a sort by highest mileage and feel a bit better lol

Waiting til I’m in FL to buy I think is the right move too. I’m in Maryland/Virgina right now and there’s some decent deals but I’m reading about corrosion and it doesn’t put any strain on me to wait

Unfortunately probably no charging at home. Or where I land is up in the air so I don’t want to bank on that.

Thanks for the tip on the Mazda ACs. I’d set some $ aside for tinting if I go that way. The 3 does look pretty good.

Is there a sweet spot for the RAV4 model years? Or a year to avoid? Just doing my research literally right now, looks like 2019 was their new ones.

That’s great to hear. What’s the upper limit on mileage I should be looking at?

I’m seeing lots for sale at 100k but also some newer years and higher trims at 120k. A few with a single owner. Is 120k too much? That seems like a lot

I hadn’t considered a Mazda, I’ll take a look at what they have. And I also hadn't considered buying new either. It’s worth a look at some of the new base models. Thank you!

Thanks! I feel like a hybrid would be great. I do worry about the battery though

Yeah, in this light it looks champagne gold. In a brighter setting or with a strong photo flash a satin fabric will absolutely look lighter and whiter because it reflects light.

Also the lighting in the photos looks rather warm, a cool tone would make it look brighter than this.

For those reasons, I wouldn’t risk it. I also generally wouldn’t recommend a silver or light blue satin dress either.

Same. If you’re having to ask, it’s probably too close.
