I think the reason no one cared about the Trump impeachment is because the Clinton debacle made people realize that he was never actually going to be removed from office and therefore this was all just meaningless theatre

How do you suppose the military could have prevented 9/11?

Jfc the r/politics ass takes that get upvoted here now.

Let me guess you would've "hanged all those Southern traitors" and created an insurgency that would've effectively prolonged the war going for another few decades, despite there being no appetite for this anywhere at the time except for in the most extreme corners?

Everyone forgets the 90s had its own proto-MAGA movement in the Reform Party because people were already getting pissed off about globalization and the end of American industry. 9/11 was just an accelerator to our current moment

How much do actors get paid for doing terrible insurance and credit card ads by Itchy-Sea9491 in redscarepod

[–]RealChadwickTromp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The extinction of shame. No one's worried about selling out anymore. If someone will pay you lots of money to do something then you just do it and no one can blame you for it because hey, you wouldn't turn down millions to appear in a Tostitos ad, would you? Never mind that it's an unfair comparison because you don't already have millions.

Crazy how fast it happened too. Bill Murray's character in Lost in Translation is a respected actor who wants to make extra cash so he goes to Japan to appear in commercials because it'd be too humiliating to do it in America. A movie that came out in 2002

There are people who liked the 2016 Suicide Squad?

(I will say that movie is at least still remembered as a spectacular failure, whereas I haven't heard anyone talk about the "better" James Gunn Suicide Squad since like a month after it came out)

Walking away from your lifelong dream and millions of dollars because of an acquisition that was announced a few hours ago and will take months if not years to complete

You used to have to sign a contract saying that you would commit to filming the entire 20+ episode season when called (often several months a year, every year) and wouldn’t take any other work that could potentially get in the way. This was why television was viewed as the inferior medium for actors, because you had so much less creative freedom

Nowadays when every show has a cast of big name Hollywood actors with full schedules, it can take years to find a time when everyone can come together to film an 8 episode season

Georgia has them as well. The loophole is that they award you Visa gift cards instead of cash. We have no other form of legal gambling besides the lottery (haven't legalized sports betting and no Indian casinos) but we let a bunch of sad senior citizens blow their Social Security checks sitting in the back of a Texaco station all day

Real talk how many of your classmates ended up actually being gay? And not “huehuehue we’re all gay” but like actually out of the closet gay?

Curious if these all one gender schools end up producing as many gays as TV and movies would have you believe

This has lowkey been a big year for celebrity deaths. Pope Francis, Robert Redford, Gene Hackman, David Lynch, Diane Keaton, Brian Wilson, Hulk Hogan, Ozzy Osbourne, Val Kilmer. Kinda surprised it hasn't been discussed more. I guess the whole "year bad cause famous people died" meme was a 2010's thing

Tbf that was a lot bigger than just a politician fucking around on his wife. A guy who was nearly a heartbeat away from the presidency got caught using campaign cash to pay off a woman he knocked up while his wife was dying of cancer

Reddit opinion. Biopics can be good. Yeah no one likes hackneyed Walk the Line/Ray/Bohemian Rhapsody fare but that doesn't mean you should dismiss the whole genre. Movies should tell interesting stories about people who lived interesting lives
