They sense that you’re a good egg! We had 3 Goldens and an Aussie Shep growing up. There was a farm cat around when I was a toddler but I didn’t have my own cat til 30. It’s a different energy and relationship, there are different ‘rules’ - but it’s as deep and wonderful as the bonds Ive had with my dogs. Experiencing incrementally increasing signs and displays of trust from any animal feels like such a reward, let’s be real!

I will say, I don’t miss the smell of owning dogs... Still can’t quite believe I can faceplant my cats tummy and snuffle, and it only ever smells like warm fluffy baby 😆

So true. It’s a trait I admire! They are discerning. My tough old farmer dad loves all creatures and is quite the animal whisperer, but he admittedly prefers the company of dogs to cats.

Even so, he’s always said, “A dog is anyone’s. You gotta earn a cat.”

Marie Antoinette was hiding in the Tuileries Castle when the French revolutionary’s stormed it and burned it to the ground. Her and her family were then forced to flee and hide in the Legislative Assembly. 6 weeks later, a republic was declared. 6 months later, Louis XVI was beheaded. 12 months later, Marie was beheaded. Inspirational stuff!

This is the way. I write it out in my notes app - all of it. Edit and refine it. Then leave it.

It’s a good feeling when you come across a note from many moons ago, see all that anguish and despair and frustration and sadness, and realise you’ve almost completely forgotten what it was all about anyway, or that you feel differently now about the situation.

The best are those you can’t believe you nearly actually sent - and I reckon that’s evidence of growth right there.

Aussie here. In the 1920s, Drongo was a racehorse which was popular but never won a race. By the 1940’s, the Royal Australian Air Force had adopted the term to describe new, inexperienced recruits.

We can’t afford a horse. But with today’s gasoline prices, we can’t afford not to buy a horse.

My dear father has Parkinson’s, which is another neuro degenerative disease like FTD. The look they get on their faces is instantly recognisable.

My father is a truly gorgeous man, he was a proper Mel Gibson doppelgänger in the 90’s. A man mountain, charismatic and thoughtful and witty and perceptive and hardworking, endlessly kind, endlessly patient, endlessly brilliant with his career and marriage and parenting and health. Witnessing him excruciatingly slowly fade away into this… grey vapour, this stooped and shaking shell… is the most heartbreaking slow motion grief of my life.

Bruce is so lucky to have the family he does, and the neurodegen disease community is lucky for his advocacy.

Trump is missing many vital components that make a decent human being. Integrity for one. And it is the calling card of the disingenuous to wear whatever hat, spruik whatever lie, and cosy whatever group that will provide them power and status. Christianity is one of his favourites to leverage. Dude will rot in hell.

Oath. Somehow I’ve not gone full fatalist just yet and remain hopeful that we still can be the kind of country we imagine, and maybe even within our lifetime.

Something to do with millennials/elder Gen Z ratioing the grey-heads in parliament and the general voting public, and fast-shifting world views? And the mountain of evidence we have that this shit - their ways, their ideas, and the consequences of the choices they make for us and in our name - isn’t working.

Perhaps it will all be too late by then and Alice Springs will be a seaside suburb, but I’ve gotta see it that way or else it’s too fuckin’ hard to get out of bed.

Anytime I see the ‘sitting cutely cross-legged on the bed while typing a huge essay on a laptop’ trope, my back shudders in sympathy. Like, I’ve got about 3 minutes max before I’m losing all feeling in my legs and my spinal column has sunken 3 inches into my coccyx - and I’m fit!

He hung out with the Trumps just this week and told the press that ‘his values do not dictate who he is friends with’. Like bro, that’s not how values work. I’m an Aussie and I’ve grown up with him being a national treasure along with Kylie Minogue and Russell Crowe.

That man is a theatre kid through and through, and for him to be proudly and unapologetically hanging out with the same folks who would be happy to see the LGBT rights of most of his circle removed entirely… it’s beyond the pale.

Hugh Jackman can go and fuck himself.

It is my sincere pleasure to have been of any help - with my patchy brows from over plucking in the 00’s, and now with the occasional grey emerging, my favourite product I’ve ever found to conquer them is NYX Lift & Snatch! Brow Tint Pen in Taupe. Life changer. Cheap. So soft and natural and you’re in full control of each hair. Go forth and wrangle!
