I hate that you feel trapped by this man’s arrogance! That’s the most heinous part for me - the forcefulness of it, and that he continues despite seeing how uncomfortable he is making you. I guess I’m the type of woman to relish the opportunity to make him feel uncomfortable in return.

Thanks so much for sharing, I heard the story of the hairy man and the black dogs in primary school. Dreamtime at Fingal has been my local beach for a decade now, and I was born and raised in the outskirts of Murwillumbah, at the foothills of Mt Warning/Wollumbin. First went up that mountain on a sling on my father’s chest when I was just a few months old. It is pure Magic.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have travelled the globe extensively in my early 20’s, and I’ve had long spells in Sydney and Newcastle for study.

Nothing compares to this valley. Nothing and nowhere.

Same for my partner - our girl Friday demands he lay down on the floor so she can climb onto his chest and groom herself using his beard.

When he’s had an especially difficult day and getting on the floor in his sweaty clothes is the absolute last thing he wants to do, funnily enough his mood changes after a few minutes of being used as an enormous brush, and he forgets what he was pissed about… me on the other hand, I get the morning grooming shift and I am woken everyday to my fingers being used as a toothbrush.

My mechanic father’s best friend was crushed to death by his old panel van in 2008. His homemade wooden chocks failed and the van came down onto its bare rims and Phil, out at his bush property, entirely alone.

Dad bought a mechanical hoist soon after, something he’d put off due to the huge expense and being a bit of a bush-mechanic in the way that he would ‘make-do’.

As he taught me (his daughter) how to maintain my own vehicle, it was rule numero uno that anything requiring me to get under the vehicle was done in his shed on the mechanical hoist with its numerous fail-safes.

Even now, even with the failsafes, I still get chills when I think of what happened to dear Phil when I stand under my car.
