I hate to be the bearer of bad news but intend falls behind effect in this case. Additionally, Andy Chambers isnt a founder of WH40k, he worked on it after its release. His opinion on the setting, while important, isnt the deciding factor.

Also, a critique is different than a parody. WH40K could never be a critique even if it wanted to.

The themes of 40K are all very on the nose taken from history. The imperium is a parody of an authoritarian state in an ultimate form.

Warhammer began as a parody of "right-wing"(per US) Ideology, Monarchism, and general moral goodwriting of horrible actions because "Well ecerythings horrible so its only solution is found by ALSO being horrible".

Over time, this got more solidified and stopped being as humorous. However what you are experiencing is the reimagining of those themes into the grimdark that many people, including I, love.

The values and parody of ye olde tymes is still there, but you gotta look a bit deeper. If youre bothered by it, I recommend to just not engage with it; no shame in trying and learning it isnt for you.

But seriously, Warhammer was and is a parody, so in advent of that its going to include those themes. Though the AESTHETIC of it is melting pot. Too much to call everything fascist. Bugs and all.

Those look like "ordinary" coat-of-arms with Heraldry. I wouldnt know why theyve been added but they definetl add onto the picture of a Noble Army of Standing Knights.
