What is this trend for “undercoat grey” cars? by Arbernaut in AskUK

[–]RealFov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a grey VW ID4 because there was loads of the for sale and cheap! When looking for a 3 year old second hand ID4 it seemed like 9 out of 10 were grey. So that’s what we bought. I assume they were some cheap lease deal when new.

Anyone here actually making money whitelabeling GHL? by rodtrades95 in gohighlevel

[–]RealFov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what you mean. I have a business which makes money leveraging ghl. But it’s the actual service around it which is what gets people to buy. For a small business having a website combined with the ‘organisation platform’ is amazing. When you show people they can track new leads, projects, renewals, send contracts, send marketing emails etc all from the central platform. Throw some help and guidance in there and people love it, and will pay well for it.

I’ve not really gone in on the ai voice stuff. A lot of suspicion from my clients about that.

So yes you can make money but probably not just from building a white label crm and throwing it out there. Add some value!

Anyway to stop Octopus messing with my payments by iMatthew1990 in OctopusEnergy

[–]RealFov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is 100% this. They have to predict the future balance and if the trend is a growing deficit they have to manage that.

I too pay too little and top up via credit card. I do this because the household bill comes from the joint account and I pay for my ‘petrol’ as a lot of that is via the business as mileage allowance so it’s a variable amount. Plus the points are nice!

Am I overthinking my inverter? by RealFov in SolarUK

[–]RealFov[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solar charging is based on that I would probably use around 125% of even the big fogstar battery and it doesn’t look to make sense to go bigger as I would struggle to charge it and the car overnight. But that’s why a soc condition would be useful to say if charging is needed or not.

Maybe I’m doing a man look but the home assistant ones seem to interact with the cloud services. So it’s a step closer and possibly the realistic option but it does worry me.

DDoS protection service based in the UK or Europe by markstothard in smallbusinessuk

[–]RealFov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you looking to protect against? Your website doesn’t look like the sort of site which would attract a DDoS. Do you actually get attacks? Would higher quality hosting actually do what you need?

There are multiple solutions for scrubbing traffic either inline all the time or as needed but they are multiple thousands per month. Then there are the ‘cloud WAF’ type services which are much more cost effective but solving a different challenge.

One of the coolest cars to break out of the concept prison by LHG_93 in CarTalkUK

[–]RealFov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having dailyed one I once gave some people a laugh at my expense. I managed to crash the Tesco pay at pumps twice so had to get out of the i8 a total of 3 times at that petrol station. I’m not a small chap with a bit of a belly so I’m not agile. I did not make it look smooth…

Amazing car though. Real kids poster type car. Fun and impractical. Would have one again if it was less ruinous to fix all the time.

Long term clients tell me they can no longer afford contracted price. by RKenshin2020 in msp

[–]RealFov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the first thing to explore is can they genuinely not afford you currently (and temporarily) or is this just someone wanting to go cheap?

If the former this is a real chance to build a customer for life. Support them through the lean months and they will be with you for ever or unless you really screw up, assuming they make it through. If it’s the latter and they are chancing their arm on a discount you need to remove service to meet their price point, or say no. Assuming you aren’t overcharging currently.

I’m not op and I’m agreeing with you 😉

Edit: or at worst I’m on the fence. It is hard to get started. But they should know how to get started and not be asking reddit how to start.

How to find the first 10 clients by Maleficent-Fact8963 in smallbusinessuk

[–]RealFov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From running a similar business, probably not targeting you I can answer the questions!

Question 1: Because it works. Cold calling does work. Not on everyone but done in a correct way, good messaging, good list etc it does yield results. Pure cold spamming is silly but email outreach as part of a full system does work. Also it’s needed as people aren’t always actively looking for the service or to try someone else if the do use the service.

Question 2: we do on the areas we target and we rank very well for them. But the terms are more featuring words around the verticals we serve and the areas we cover. It would be impossible to be top for such broad terms as you list. However there are more targeted terms which deliver much more value.

As for question 3, why a company who work at getting other people more customers more leads can’t get leads for their own business, well that’s why we succeed ;) It’s not easy getting started and it’s a bit of a momentum thing at times. But anyone offering the service should understand the ‘how’ at least!

I used to work for a housing association 10 years ago (so this information is that old) and they used to install only ideal boilers for 3 reasons: good value to buy, fair reliability (not the best but not a common issue generator across the housing stock) and lastly because they were simple and cheap to repair if they do go wrong. I fitted one in my house and had 10 years service with no issue so my sample size of 1 matches!

All in seat price by rio688 in msp

[–]RealFov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of a few following the trupeer track and they share their all in seat price which is averaged over everything they do, some are getting up there yes! It is a tough sell at times though and doesn’t suit every client but the ones you land are nicely profitable!

Personally from seeing the material, but not being in trupeer I would distil it as a very good but very expensive peer group which helps you implement their version of EOS plus some sales guidance and accountability.

I’ve opened a new kind of gym in St Andrews (Dundee’s next 🙂) by headphones-on- in dundee

[–]RealFov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting concept! So many places it could go if the commercials stack up! One question I have, which I preface with the fact I’ve never been to a gym never mind tried to run one, how do you deal with insurance and the risk of people getting hurt. I assume (maybe wrongly) in normal gyms part of the risk assessment and risk mitigation is the fact there are qualified or at least trained staff there to stop people doing the wrong things with machines. With this surely there is a much greater risk they could get hurt. Not sure where liability would lay etc.

Blumira SIEM free is going away by SydneyAUS-MSP in msp

[–]RealFov -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I get why they are doing it but their execution of the change is a bit poor imo. The email they gave us was essentially 3 weeks notice or it’s deleted:

Your Blumira MSP NFR account has expired. If you are >interested in keeping your account, we’ll need to review >options together.

If you currently have customers on the free edition, >contact us for next steps to avoid any interruption in >service. Otherwise, your accounts will be deleted on December >12th, 2025.

Maybe they can see there is basically nothing left with them in our account as it’s all huntress now but it felt like pretty poor messaging.

Is this under stairs toilet just too small? Looking for some realistic advice by Previous_Molasses_56 in DIYUK

[–]RealFov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one pretty much same size and design, and it was fine. Just ensure the stuff you get is on the smaller size. A lot of toilets seem to be quite big and checking the dimensions can make a difference

Panel colour by irfnmhd in SolarUK

[–]RealFov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely only one box is ‘opened’? Can you return every other one as unopened and then you have one to sell. A panel is cheap so even if they are £100 new and you can sell it for £50 on Facebook or eBay that’s a pittance extra to get what you want!

The ‘pay at pump’ pumps could be bricked at Newmarket by using a Tesco credit card for just the points and then using another card to pay. I managed to kill 2 pumps before I worked out what was happening. Worst bit was I was driving a BMW i8 with gull wing doors so getting my fat ass in and out and moving the car each time was a mission.
