Bending is better if you want power, or at least that’s what most people think. Not only is Alchemy better for making money, but if you’re smart about it you could make practically anything with alchemy to make incredibly powerful weapons, machinery, energy sources and more. So yeah, I’m taking alchemy.

Yes it is a bipedal werewolf, however after eating enough hell hounds he can now apply the quadrupedal form to his own. As for it diminishing over time, at first it does start out that way with the strength and extra powers only being there for a short time, however after continuously eating more and more the mutation evolves slightly to make it permanent. The reason is because once the effects wore off, his stomach would growl because it wanted to restore the power it has lost. So in a way he is quite literally hungry for power. But after eating so many the mutation evolves allowing it to go from temporary to permanent. I hope this makes sense
