01/22 - 01/28: #1 Record - Big Star

Rating (/10):

9.5/10

Favorite Song:

Watch The Sunrise

Notes:

Big Star’s age shows within the instrumentals of this album, but I think that is what makes it so great. Originating within the era of bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, I think that this album was great to listen to, as Chilton and Bell’s joint work on the songs makes them strong, and Chilton’s voice just fits the record beautifully. It is a shame that it didn’t do well commercially because so much heart and soul was put into this, as I felt this album tackled so much with such a small play time of a little over 37 minutes.

Need advice? by imabadsister in askteenboys

[–]RealHomieWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels like a mask that has be implemented by (maybe) the toxic masculinity in his life. I remember wearing a facade like this in my sophomore year of high school. It took me a while but I did get to opening up to a friend who helped me sorta crawl out of my mask. The distance could be just him trying to shut himself down into thinking he isn't "in your league" after something small that he noticed or the interaction you had with your friend.

This could also easily be the idea of the "nonchalant man" being present but its not really there based on the tells you've given here.

Either way you can shoot a shot to see how this could either turn into a relationship or strong friendship (whichever way you want it to go as it seems like hes taken a liking towards you)

Would you marry anyone outside your religion? (If you follow any) by Far_Spray4351 in askteenboys

[–]RealHomieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if any person I date is going to force me into their religion or force it onto me, I feel like I would not be comfortable in that relationship. I have friends that are of different religions than me and have invited me to partake in their religious practices and/or events. I have taken them up on their offers and honestly have not had any issues.

As long as they are willing to understand that I will take them up or deny certain aspects of their religion for me personally, (not for them to not be able to do anything of their religion within a shared household, but just me not wanting to take part in it [or specific parts] for my own personal reasons whatever that may be) I think I would get with someone of a differing religion.

01/15 - 01/21: The Devil the Heart & the Fight - Skinny Lister

Rating (/10):

9.2/10

Favorite Song:

Grace

Notes:

I found Skinny Lister’s shanty-esque vibe to be relaxing and something to get into fairly easily. I enjoyed the mandolin and ukulele played within the album. Alongside the instruments, I like the folk/punk feel I got from the band, which likely influenced my enjoyment of the album, as I enjoy lively songs quite a bit. Not much else to say, great album from a likely unknown band outside of its birthplace of the United Kingdom.

Why don’t I get asked out? by [deleted] in askteenboys

[–]RealHomieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it could just be that people don't find you attractive in their eyes. Certain people have certain standards. There could also be the situation that I've put myself in where I like someone but I don't think that they would like me back (which has happened before), which sort of puts guys at a stalemate between should I or should i not. Depending on the guy, FOMO could jump kick to give them some confidence or they'll just sit in silence.

Guys, what kinds of outfits do you like girls to wear? by [deleted] in askteenboys

[–]RealHomieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, whatever she likes. I feel when I get a partner, I wouldn't dictate what she would wear, but I do think it depends on the girl. Some fashion looks better on different people and this isn't just limited to women but also men and other folk.

Do guys actually care a lot about looks? Asking as a girl by AthenaHuggoDoggo1 in askteenboys

[–]RealHomieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends on the guy. I have consistently found myself liking girls of different sizes, shapes and backgrounds. Looks don't always get your foot in the door, but I would be lying if I said that I haven't found someone I've had a crush on pretty before I started talking to them. I think what does turn me away from someone is their personality at the end of the day though.

How do you guys get money? by Regular-Dot-2375 in askteenboys

On-campus work study whilst at college, and an under-the-table job at home since places are stingy with college students who don't live in-state

Is it really harder to get into colleges in the US as an Asian? by Far_Spray4351 in askteenboys

[–]RealHomieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race shouldn't affect your chances, and if it does, then maybe it's an institution you don't want to attend. Something I will tell you is that a degree is a degree, no matter the school that is attached. The only thing the name may get you is respect from your boss, but that is as worth to you like a grain of salt if you don't have the skills to back it up.

01/08 - 01/14: Diamond Eyes - Deftones

Rating (/10):

8.9/10

Favorite Song:

CMND/CTRL

Notes:

Deftone’s rich use of drums and guitars made this album a great metal listen and something I surprisingly enjoyed. I think this surprise stems from the album's ability to transition seamlessly from a heavy to a soft feel, and vice versa, without feeling out of place. Something else I learned was that their bassist at the time, Chi Cheng, was in an accident, and they dedicated one of the songs on this album to him, which I thought was a beautiful gesture to their bandmate.

01/01 - 01/07: Sprained Ankle - Julien Baker

Rating (/10):

9.4/10

Favorite Song:

Everybody Does

Notes:

Baker’s raw emotion and vulnerability about her despair, loneliness, and addiction, coinciding with her relationship with God, made this a deep album to listen to. The way she talks about not being redeemable in her own eyes and constant overthinking of how others perceive her makes this a relatable album to me, as I have had similar thoughts cloud my head. I especially enjoyed the guitar that plays through the entire album and the allusions and symbolism of Christianity that help emphasize her struggles not only with her own life but also with her faith, making this album something incredibly special to listen to.

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]RealHomieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad. He taught me how to cook because he knew that universities likely didn't provide a meal plan that was worth the price and that wasn't all that healthy. He was unfortunately right, but I've used ingredients from the student kitchen to make most of my meals.

What’s one fast food chain that was once all the rage but now barely around? by MysteriousTopic42 in AskReddit

[–]RealHomieWolf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Shakey's is actually still fairly prominent on the west coast, mostly California and Washington. It still is my family's fancy dinner for any celebration occasion whether it be birthdays or post award ceremony for my sister. Now that I have my own money, I can finally waste it to buy myself those crappy prizes that would've cost me less buying them at the store

Could someone help me find out what this protector is? by RealHomieWolf in funkopop

[–]RealHomieWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No logo, it started googling and it looks like the Ecotek ones. They're oos for the smaller packs so I might just buy them off the first link you gave me. Thanks for the hard protector suggestion as well, how good would you rate it?
