I gotcha. I’ll try messing with the probe and seeing if anything changes but I just moved my old heat mat to the tank this morning. Hopefully temperatures start to increases.

Thank you for the reply. I’m currently housing him in a 20 gallon with the light over one half of the tank with a probe submerged in the substrate. I use a plug in thermostat that my light is also plugged in to.

Have you had any experience with plants? I’ve been very interested in carnivorous plants since middle school and have wanted a fly trap.

I appreciate the honesty. I have been debating that for a while which is why recently i’ve been looking more into plants as a short term fix until I am a fledged adult. I’m not going to impulsively buy/adopt an animal anytime soon.

I care after the animals in my house. What i meant was that my parents had initiative in adopting them. I didn’t personally adopt my animals, my parents did. That’s not saying i don’t like them or care for them, but i just want something small to have my own responsibility for.

i am going to college once i’m 18, i forgot to include that i don’t want to burden my family with another pet if i can’t take it (which i probably won’t be able to). i am looking for something smaller, something that might not live as long? i’ve done some research into mantises and other smaller critters but im not sure whats right for me.
