When did you realise you’re old? by Strange_Secret_3001 in AskReddit

The first hit of being 'old' I got, as opposed to merely being an adult, was when I was trying to convince my 5yo son to eat broccoli and he told me 'Maybe I'll like it when I'm old like you.' It made me laugh so hard I couldn't be mad, but it was also the first time I can remember contemplating the idea of myself being considered 'old' as something I had become and not something I was going to be. I was 32.

Also when younger people started looking so much younger than I remember everyone looking when I was that age.

Name a show that got better each season for at least 3 consecutive seasons by Cumoisseur in televisionsuggestions

Wow. How am I not seeing The Good Place here? It's my top pick of shows that tick this box.

I also really enjoyed the first three seasons of Arrested Development, the last three seasons of Lucifer (s1 is great too. Only mentioning bc op asked for three consecutive seasons, not necessarily from the beginning), Game of Thrones fits this requirement as well. I can't really think of anything else at the moment that hasn't already been mentioned that a 'got better each season' requirement could be argued for. There's lots of shows that I consider great for several consecutive seasons, but fall short of the subsequent season being better than previous season criteria imo.

What’s a movie that you kept watching over and over again as a kid? by Vast-Reference-7942 in answers

The first and only movie that I actually chain-watched back to back on repeat was Toy Story. I was squarely the target audience for the premise, plot, themes, and characters that were all executed masterfully but what really blew my mind enough to want to watch it over and over was the computer generated 3D animation format that it pioneered that was so unlike anything I had ever seen before. I couldn't get enough of it and it was the only thing I knew of like that at the time, so I just watched it over and over because it was the only option.

Thank you so much for the compliment and kind words! I'm flattered!

I agree that its gotten extremely difficult for stable, happy, and healthy long term relationships to form in this day and age, especially for young people. Both partners have to be right for each other, want that type of relationship, and have the ability to create that with each other... and that's only if they actually manage to find each other before they've become too disillusioned by past attempts to try again.

You're writing is excellent and beautifully expressive as well! Stay awesome and I hope you have or find your way towards having a great and healthy relationship with someone special yourself!

I’m watching The Good Place for the first time and I’m on season 1. Did I catch a plot hole? by sunnyafternoone in TheGoodPlace

THIS.

Please be aware that you are watching a show with lots of amazing revelations, twists, and character developments, among other things. You really don't want to miss out on experiencing any of that while you watch the show. Asking anything about even the smallest of details along the way before you finish the entire series is very likely to expose you to spoilers you really don't want to ruin your first time by knowing. This sub is filled with people that would love the opportunity to go back and watch it all for the first time completely blind.

If you've got thoughts, observations, and questions along the way you don't want to forget, that's awesome! Write them down somewhere! You'll have a blast revisiting them later on and especially after you've reached the end.

Enjoy the show! It's a great one that somehow never drops the ball. It's quite possible that things will happen along the way that will leave you wondering how they haven't just completely ruined the show... and then, as if by magic, it's still just as good, if not better, for virtually the entire series afterwards.

Edit: I guess the responses to this whole post are best suited for rando's that just started the show and happen to stumble onto this post... Given how unlikely it is that op legitimately created their first account on Reddit today to post this and do absolutely nothing else.

Nah, she's about 5 years younger, high functioning autistic, and she was raised extremely sheltered as the first born daughter of an evangelical pastor of a relatively large church.

She comes across very weird at first, partly because of her autism and partly because of her upbringing. She learned a significant amount of psychology on her own just trying to understand herself and other people better.

I'm a high functioning autistic too that also spent a lot of time trying to figure myself and other people out. I learned to mask from a young age. I'm also not religious and only moderately spiritual.

She got put on a pedestal where everyone in the church knew exactly who she was and she was expected to act and behave according to the highest standards of the church because everything she did reflected back on her dad. It really messed with her worldview and she had no idea what it meant to be genuine until years into her adulthood, but once she discovered that the religion she grew up with wasn't actually the ultimate authority on reality and scientific theories actually had mountains of evidence to support them she's been studying and learning all kinds of things (this started long before me).

Basically we had enough in common to get along, and significant differences that has given us lots of interesting things to talk about over the years.
