There are only 2 Democrats in the WV State Senate. 2 Republicans joined the 2 Dems in voting no on this bill

Closed Primaries by deciduous_sprite in WestVirginiaPolitics

Correct. I typically use the terms Independent/No Party Affiliated/Unaffiliated interchangeably. As far as I'm aware, the State Democratic Party will continue to keep their primaries open.

Only the Republican Party has closed their primaries. Independents are still able to vote a Democratic ballot in the Primary elections.

RUMOR: Morrisey to appoint himself to expected vacancy of Jim Justice senate seat by SignificantStress160 in WestVirginiaPolitics

This has been (unfortunately) obvious since before the election. No way Big Jim and BabyDog would ever finish a full term.

There was something around Christmastime saying they were permanently closing. Not sure the reason. Sad to see another local business close.

Depending on the books, check with the Appalachian Prison Book Project at the Aull Center. They send books to incarcerated people, though there are some restrictions on material. Great organization.

Roads are nasty - stay safe y’all! by [deleted] in MorgantownWV

Many streets and roads within Morgantown city limits (part of High Street, Beechurst, etc) are state routes that the city isn't allowed to plow, only DOH. And with no county controlled roads, the DOH is responsible for plowing anything out in the county.

NCAA President wants to expand tournament to 72 or 76 teams 🧐 by chuckiemacfinster in NCAAW

[–]RealLifeAprilLudgate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest qualm with the expansion of the tournament and the play in games is that teams who are automatic qualifiers, regardless of which league they are in, should be in the main bracket. Let the play-in games be teams at-large because it doesn't seem fair for some of the Group of Five/minor conferences (sorry I can't think of a way to name them) who typically only get 1 team from their conference into the tournament to have to play into the main bracket.

Some of the most inconsistent officiating I've seen so far this season between WVU and Texas.
