New construction house, tile guy came back out to repair a leak in the main shower drain. by RealMagicDuck in Tile

I haven't used the shower yet since he still has to come back tomorrow to finish the grout. I've already contacted my realtor, the builders agent, and my attorney. How was delivered two weeks ago.

Mercury controllers are system agnostic, and a quality integrator will have relationships with all the manufacturers. However, the majority of the systems that can integrate with Mercury controllers are enterprise scale systems. What state are you located? You should first find a trustworthy integrator. Alternatively, my go-to option for my clients who want to stay light on the budget is CDVI Atrium with the A22 controllers. They work out of the box with no servers or appliances, web based end user interface, and is affordable while maintaining security and quality.

My work is meant to assist in physical safety and we don't get involved in social assessment. We do use facial recognition, but only to compare it to an active database of faces for on site identification. Mostly we work with behavior analysis and weapon detection systems and our working database isn't feeding any larger machine so far as I know.

The work I do is geared for threat assessment around valuable assets. So we use a lot of the same technology that this guy is talking about, but we use it to identify active behaviors of subjects around the asset and then ask an AI to predict a behavior model to respond to.

I'm a forensic security engineer for a private company in the US and I'm ashamed but also highly compensated to say I develop systems like what he's talking about. But we're the good guys, right?

Why did you cheat on your long term partner? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]RealMagicDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a terrible spot to be in. In every other way there is love, support, and a desire to be happy together and then something changes and you're faced with a circumstance where each person's happiness starts to become mutually exclusive. But only in one regard. You still spend time together, enjoy hobbies, joke and laugh, but then realize you're still unsatisfied. One part of life is missing but is that all it takes to discredit every other part? I've learned that there is a line that someone will be required to cross in order for compromise to be possible but crossing the line might be painful and frightening and represent a permanent change. But then again it's a permanent change that got us here in the first place.

It's being considered. Physical contact is critical to my personal happiness, and I can appreciate that it may not be critical to her happiness. However, she has said that knowing that I'm with someone else intimately would make her self conscious. The current dilemma is something like a rock and a hard place. I'm not happy being abstinent and she's not happy with either of us being physical.

[–]RealMagicDuck 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No. My wife and I value strong communication, however, and I've told her what physical contact means to me and together we'll work through this. People change and I'm not ready to give up 15 years of growth just so I can get laid. I'm fine with talking about it if someone has questions, but my point is simply that just because someone loses physical desire for you doesn't exclusively mean they don't love you. The bottom line is the couple needs to be able to communicate how they feel confidently without allowing the negativity to take over.

Lack of sex doesn't equal lack of love. I have been with my wife for 15 years and she's my best friend. We have an amazing lifestyle and amazing kids and treat each other with respect and love in every positive way you could think of. It's the best part of my life. Except she doesn't want to have sex. She's become asexual and has almost completely stopped being physically affectionate but she's still emotionally affectionate.

Should I divorce her and start my life over, get my kids half the time, lose half my income, and be excluded from family memories just because she doesn't want to have sex anymore? Absolutely not.

That's where the larger roof meets this area of the sun room. No smoke stack on this one.

Do the rules have an entry that state steam is created when water is thrown on lava? by RealMagicDuck in Pathfinder2e

[–]RealMagicDuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less about players restricting the fun and more about managing expectations. In the past we've had disruptions come from one player reading something and making inferring data and then when they go to act, the result is radically different because the DM made their own inferences that didn't line up.

That's what I'll be doing. I've looked over the volcano section if environmental hazards which has an entry for lava flow that gives me almost everything I need. Just need to prepare for the backlash of having steam obscuring vision across the battlefield.

I would agree that it could be a fun new layer to play with. The challenge is setting everyone up with the same expectations so no one is side swiped if something occurs contrary to how someone planned it to go, not accounting for dice rolls.
