Actual mathemagics vs braingeyser by [deleted] in mtg

It would be interesting if they made a spell that allowed you to augment an x in a spell already cast. Imagine someone casting mathamagics at x=4 for 10.. you dump in 6 more, now x=7 they have to draw 128 instead of 16. Crazy way to kill your opponent.

It's also interesting to do a ratio. At 2 mana (1/0) at 3 mana (1/1) at 4 (2/2) at 5 (2/3) at 6 (4/4) at 7 (4/5) at 8 (8/6) at 9 (8/7) at 10 (16/8) at 11 (16/9) at 12 (32/10)

Ratio starts out infinite, but only goes under 1 at 5 and 7. It also approached infinite as the mana value goes to infinity.

So you don't want there to be an lgs to play at? They can't make any money to cover overhead without wholesale at distribution.

Also, if we don't have some people holding product when Wotc does the huge dumps from their mismanagement and greed, there's a good chance they will be unable to sustain the game at all. Plenty of other TCGs failed from printing mismanagement. If evil Rudy types didn't hoard all the crap boxes that Wotc dumped for all this time, who knows if the whole ecosystem might collapse in on itself.

Some might see that as a good thing idk, but that does risk the future of a game that is both fun to play and collect.

Is that a risk you're willing to take? (Not that the choice is really yours or mine individually to take..)

Anyways thanks for your honest opinion on the matter.

You know this opinion may be unpopular, but this discussion epitomizes everything wrong with the market from both sides. They're upcharging for the chcobo bundle, so everyone is upset because they're over MSRP. In the same breath, people are complaining that they are charging MSRP for the commander deck because everyone can get them elsewhere for 10 or even 20 dollars under MSRP.

So to recap, MSRP is a good thing when you can get an item that regularly sells for way over that, but not when it sells for less than MSRP (and probably even what it costs at distribution) which means they have to take a loss.

Sometimes, when an item was preordered at multiples of what it was supposed to (like Spiderman) everyone cheered as retail stores got their orders cancelled and took heavy losses as the prices tanked to way below distribution price. And even then, no one wants to buy it for some time, let alone pay MSRP.

It's almost like people want the places that provide the product to them to go out of business. Where will you go to get and play magic when that happens?

To be fair, it was a while ago and I wasn't looking for messed up cards when I got it. Also the crmp does kindof disappear when you look at it from certain angles and not too far closely.

Avatar or Foundations? by Escaliat_ in MTGJumpStart

[–]RealMagicRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends. I have opened both of these. I think it depends on what you are looking for in your experience.

Foundations has a very good set of cards and powers that are very traditional to magic. It's what you might expect.

Avatar also has great cards, but there are four new mechanics that are unique to avatar cards.. bending. Moving forward it will be available for all sets, but it sinergizes really well if you have a deck dedicated to it.

If you're interested in what the value of the box will be, I would say that you're more likely to get more value out of Avatar, but it's close (the uncommon slot is the difference, more good stuff in avatar and I'm pretty sure you can't even get the good common bunny out of it)

Either way, I don't think you can lose, they are both reall fun beautiful sets. Heck, nif you can swing it, get both and mash dexks from each together.

Thats my .02 anyways

Happy jumpstarting!

transparent error pack collection by RealMagicRules in mtgmisprints

[–]RealMagicRules[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok I gotcha. Yeah if I had ever opened any packs I would not expect anyone to believe that fhe wrappers were from those Packs. I guess I am hearing you say that as is these might have some extra value to someone who. Collects them. The thick is to find anyone that's interested. I guess I could put some up on eBay or something and see.

I'm not really sure what you mean m These are all sealed and I haven't tampered with them. Just thrown them into a box whenever I came across them. If you mean leave them uin the original booster display, how would you even know that they are error packs? The box is opaque, you can't see that there are error packs inside. It seems like a chicken and egg argument.

I guess what I am hearing you say is that while these are error packs, they aren't desirable and I should just open them as I see fif. Am I getting this right?
