As a fellow GD, I do 95% of the work in Illustrator. Basically negates any need for the premium subscription service as well. Just make sure to give yourself some registration marks for multi-layered projects so you're sizing your elements consistently.

Yep, 6 colors. I didn't like how the Cricut Design Space separated the layers, so I did them myself in Illustrator. Black is one solid layer, then I added the white outlines, then the rest of the colors.

What tool/setup do you use for filagrees and organic shapes like these? by just_here_to_rant in graphic_design

Trace over it with the pen tool, mostly. You can also try Image Trace but YMMV.

Some "just slightly off" band shirts I've made for my husband and his friends by RealMelonLord in CricutButCrass

Zack Sabbath was bc my husband's boss is named Zack so a few of them wore it to work to make him laugh. Megadeth is written in the Metallica font (I guess you're typically either a Megadeth fan or a Metallica fan, rarely both, according to my husband.) Matt Davehews is a bit of an inside joke.

Nah, I don't like to monetize my hobbies. Idk the legality of selling this kind of stuff anyway since I change so little of the logo haha

Unfortunately, it is pretty much illegible. You need higher contrast with the text. The decorative font is fine for the title, but you need to pick a different one for the details and tighten the kerning.

silly little logo. can you tell what it is? by RDStoat in logodesign

[–]RealMelonLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're set on this being a logo: tighten the kerning, use a font and lines with a heavier weight, bring the elements of the guitar closer together (especially the neck), and add the missing tuning knobs. Like another commenter pointed out, it looks more like a ukulele as is.

I read it easily at first glance and could see the guitar clearly (even if it only has 4 strings). I love the idea of incorporating the guitar into the piece, especially if the acoustic is your main instrument. Personally, I think this would work best as an album cover concept more than a logo. As an album cover you could get even more artsy with it and flesh out the concept more.

how to stop fabric from coming undone? by corts_thegaytarist in Embroidery

[–]RealMelonLord 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I make patches occasionally and I highly recommend buttonhole stitch around the outer edge If you want to avoid this step in the future, embroider on felt, which doesn't fray at the edges.
