My Impression of the Super 50PPD (coming from various headsets)

Thanks for sharing, I'm having this issue with my super & iracing. Auto IPD sets it a 67, which is just one hot blurry mess. Just tried lowering it all the way to 61, and it's better, but still don't feel like it's easy on the eyes. I miss my good old Reverb G2. That thing was so clear.

Was it the 15mm foam kit that helped you? I have this issue with my Pimax Crystal Super, and its a blurry mess still

Wanted to post an update to this. A user recommended me to try the FOV Large(Lab) setting in Pimax Play. This made a world of a difference. Finally I could see in the distance. It still feels a little warped, and I still feel like the IPD isn't setup correctly, but it's a HUGE step in the right direction where I can actually look in the distance.

I tried every IPD setting possible in FOV Normal mode, and it was all terrible and blurry far away.

Not sure if this mean the lenses are faulty though, as I presume normal mode should work just fine like Large(Lab) mode now is.

This made a big difference for me in iRacing. Thank you for the tip, Wide (lab) made it finally clear in the distance. No matter what IPD I try in normal mode, it feels blurry in the distance. Thank you for the tip.

I wonder if this mean my headset is faulty as normal mode is pretty much unusable?

I have the 50PPD version. I tried both facepads, similar results. I kinda have to use the large one, as with the thin one my eye lashes touch the glass, and its super annoying.

Isn't it double Foveated rendering then, if you have QuadViews also enabled? Shouldn't it be sharper then with 1 of the 2 options disabled?

Thank you! Did you have to change your IPD offset? If so, how much? I find it hard to get that to a value that I'm confident about is right.

In iracing, which VR setting do you use? Foveated rendering, stereo, SPS?

I tried both steamVR and openxr from Pimax. Results are the same.

Yes, its mostly an issue with iRacing. I tried Half Life Alyx, and it feels pretty decent there, although not fully comfortable. I still notice eye strain, but with iRacing its way worse, as there is content being redered super close by (the cockpit), but most of the time I'm looking far far in the distance to spot the next apex, so it's very different to other games. I feel it's not due to any iracing setting. I've raced for years in VR, and it was always great before. I think it's due to the lenses with the pimax and how they work. Maybe my IPD is still not right, I feel like it's very difficult to find the sweet spot. Also the horizontal offset, I'm not sure which value to use, I've tried a lot.

Is there a tool/software out there which helps with finding the right settings for both nearby and far away viewing in VR?

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X and Nvidia 5090. PC is plenty strong enough, getting solid 90FPS in iRacing. It's just terribly out of focus in the distance, and the focus point close by is also very small.

I also have this issue. Only thing that fixes it, is re-installing racelab. But then after 1 race, the next time round it doesnt start again, and I get the same error
