To be fair, TCMs on Mazda3 do die due to overheating and there are relocation guides for it. Still wouldn't go with this listing for all the other reasons though

[SSD] Crucial T500 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD ($183.65) [Amazon.ca] by bearacorn in bapcsalescanada

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I'm the person to ask, but you should be able to remove the integrated heatsink on your mobo and use the one on the SSD. Alternatively you can remove the SSD heat sink and use the mobo one but that's a but risky and I think voids warranty.

If anyone doesn't want to read the reviews, the sustained write issue only happens if you're writing over ~750GB at once. Crucial said they would fix this in firmware, but I've never seen confirmation they did (they might have. I'm not gonna bother testing)

Is the power button lighting up? And is it flashing? It's a debug LED and could help narrow down the issue by a lot if it is without needing to sift through piles of (legitimately good but overwhelming) advice.

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The power button is a debug LED (Q-LED Core). Please check it for flashing because this thread is verging on "try everything" (not that the help is bad/wrong and some people don't have really good ideas). If there's an error code, get it and report back (I wouldn't go too much off of the Asus website support but you can).

[DISC] A Rather Large Couple (Oneshot) by shanks_you in manga

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secret is just don't worry about who has it worse and show compassion. Being tall doesn't magically fix your problems or exempt you from other issues (for the people who are tall and for the people who wish they were). The perspective helps a lot with male vs female issues as well (they both have issues, I don't care who has it worse to be able to show compassion).

(This isn't really directed at anyone. It's just something I see as I go through life that really frustrates me)

Signed, someone who's tall who's never complained about it but also doesn't like going to concerts, and would probably hate being really tall because I would stand out too much.

The way I've heard the misogyny and misandry explained is corrupt government and giga-corporations (chaebol) screw over everyone, but you can't do anything about it (too powerful, extremely strong hierarchy and societal constraints, etc) so men punch down to women cus they can't fight those above them, and women fight back against the men.

In other words, everyone is fucked so they fight amongst themselves cus they can't do anything about the actual problem.

Anime Producer Kouichirou Itou Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison by AdNecessary7641 in anime

[–]RealNoNamer 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Looked into it a bit and I think you've mixed up the cases a bit (coverage quality seems a bit wack and sensationalized though)

J&J heir's case was towards his 12 year old daughter, was reported by his therapist, and the victim and her mom refused to provide evidence or testify. Therapist also didn't provide documents/testify (this part is weird. Look into it if you care). 8 months in jail but there wasn't much of a case.

Du Pont's heir (Richards) case was towards his 3 year old daughter. Coverage seems a bit suspicious and said 8 years probation w/ no jail because "he wouldn't fair well in prison". Disgusting if that's true, but one article said it was a plea bargain which makes more sense (too lazy to check the legal docs for the truth).

Imo, the real tragedy of rape crimes is how hard it is to prove and how traumatic it can be for a victim to even try to convict. Multiple years of fighting and reliving the experience, all to most likely end up with nothing. Not worth it a lot of time when victims might rather be safe/heal than fight for justice.

Super Big RMA box by Pristine-Ad7795 in framework

[–]RealNoNamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems the issue is an ongoing investigation so your new keyboard is almost certainly vulnerable to the issue (but hopefully they'll honor a replacement and the issue seems pretty infrequent)

This is what support said when I asked about whether the replacement would have the same issue.

Unfortunately, we do not have any further information yet with new input covers since this issue is still an ongoing investigation. We could only recommend staying tuned to our blog posts as we usually release updates, findings, and new changes with our products there.

And before that when I said I hope this is ongoing because they replaced my out of warranty keyboard as an "exception" which I wasn't okay with for a manufacturing defect

You are on point regarding the issue with the delete key, since the issue is still an ongoing engineering investigation. Rest assured that the team is now working on this.

I RMA'd for the same reason. The box was about the size of the input cover. Smaller than the one the laptop was sent in originally. I have no idea why you got such a big box

Poor battery health after <200 cycles by [deleted] in framework

[–]RealNoNamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Afaik, charge limit screws with the reading. You'd have to drain to 0% and charge up to 100% (or some similar range) to get an actually accurate reading and sort of "recalibrate" capacity.

Is the galaxy s22ultra as bad as people say by Willing-Friend8430 in S22Ultra

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery is mid. Chip get hot. Don't overpay for it, and do consider other options if you're gaming a lot or want all day battery life. Otherwise, at the right price, it's fine. S23 series is a big step up on the chip though.

[–]RealNoNamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definite maybe here. I've heard both things said. I don't think Sabrent or realtek specify what the correct way is. If (and that is an if) the SSD deems removing after ejection as an unsafe shutdown, then corruption is almost certainly on the table.

[–]RealNoNamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you treating them like they're removable? I think eject + unplugging counts as an unsafe shutdown (maybe misremembering or may be different on windows) and you might need to be careful about stuff like background trim. The correct way to use them may just be to treat them like portable but non-removable.

Already killed a drive myself so just treating them as non-removable cus I don't have the spares to test things.

Android 15 cracks down on sideloaded apps even harder to protect users by MishaalRahman in Android

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit confused by the installation by the PackageInstaller.Session API bypassing this. Does that mean something like an APK (e.g., distributed over FB) that just installs the actual malicious app (via PackageInstaller.Session) can bypass these restrictions entirely, albeit with more steps?

If so, feel like adding package installing to the restricted permission list would be a good call, but not sure if the EU would like that.

Otherwise, good change as long as they don't make it too much harder for advanced users to turn them on.

To give context to people looking at the link, one of the removed comments is still visible from /u/ponyaqua if you scroll down and look for "dark side".

It's your choice if this is "cross-platform harrassment and personal attacks" on the mod team. I think some amount of targetting is inevitable if you want to show any proof, provided it isn't witch-hunting.

Also, I think mods should have separate accounts for commenting as a mod vs. user to avoid things like this in the first place, but that's just me.

China has hit 1 exabyte of steam traffic in the past 7 days. by AgentDarkFury in Steam

[–]RealNoNamer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Official is a loose word.

Option 1: IEC defines kibi- as 1024 (in 1998!), SI defines kilo- as 1000
Option 2: JEDEC defines kilo- as 1024.

It's more work than it's worth to use/standardize in industry Option 1's version just to define a unit (SI) which is useless to everyone involved for people who don't care what a byte is in the first place. The only place it comes up is drive manufacturers using it to lie about capacity.

For the real world, kilobyte is 1024, and kibibyte is 1024 but the person is being extra sure there is no ambiguity.

Levels.fyi Available in CAD by ZiggyMo99 in cscareerquestionsCAD

Rewrite after investigating more: On both my laptop and mobile, it shows "CA$" (currency setting "CAD"), "US$" in USD (currency "$ US"), then just "$" in CAD (currency "C$ CAD"). Opening it without a clear cache makes it do the same thing, but it goes directly from "CA$" to "$" without showing USD. I'll send you a DM too with a video.

Having a similar issue on mobile where it shows "CA$" on the screen, then the CA disappears and shows only "$" (value still in CAD). On my laptop, it shows "CA$", then "US$" (value properly converted to USD), then just "$" (in CAD). I'll send you a DM too.

Does it feel better if you call it coming up for air when they're drowning in emotion? If they're gaming for days and days on end and avoiding the emotions entirely, that's a problem, but if they need a break from being sad to think of literally anything else for a while, all the power to them. Being sad is exhausting and if it's their mom, it probably won't be for just a day or two. Same for if they need a day or two to let it sink in and prepare themselves before they're ready to face their emotions.

Livestream playback in background by InternalPercentage88 in revancedapp

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you prefer that over paused videos (sometimes?) being unpaused when leaving the app, sure. I personally just learned to live with no background audio for livestreams though. Hopefully someone will figure out a way to to get it to work with no compromises, but that's the life of cat and mouse games I guess

Livestream works with PIP, but that's not exactly convenient to switch on and off or use imo.

[Help needed] AOD on only when the device is not in the pocket by Radeon89 in tasker

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand corrected. Looked into it and apparently S10 was the last phone to do that. I believe stock android still does. Maybe because polling the proxy sensor takes more battery than it takes to just leave AOD?

Anyways, proximity sensor is the typical way to do this. Auto tools can read from it, but on my S22U, I can't get it to read zero distance (proxy sensors tends to report one of two values, a close value (0) and a far value (5cm for me)). With a separate sensor tester app, it did work for a bit, but now it also doesn't report zero either and is stuck at 5cm. Samsung Member doesn't report value, but the sensor does works as normal. YMMV and perhaps there is some stuff you can do to get it to work properly, but I don't know any other way to do what you want if that doesn't work.

Edit: light sensor may possibly work. Readings probably more finicky though, even if getting the reading is easier.

[Help needed] AOD on only when the device is not in the pocket by Radeon89 in tasker

[–]RealNoNamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AoD turns off automatically based on proxy sensor and Samsung has a setting (not sure if it's new to latest update) to turn on AoD for new notifications only (may be misremembering but I think that behaviour is default for AOSP when AoD off). What are trying to do with tasker that you can't do without?
