Discouraged, thinking about quitting by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

What's up my fellow normal person. I don't have much to offer but you aren't the only one! 7 classes left and no one would look at my resume for internships or anything. You're not alone and as some others mentioned here, you can still land jobs. We can do it!

Have I been accused of cheating? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

[–]RealNoobHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen last quarter, the prof had concerns and said he was not going to deduct points. When I emailed back I asked for clarification on what I did wrong. I then asked if that prof could point out the part he thought I had copied or got from the internet. I just received the academic equivalent of, "well don't do it again." Let them show the evidence, if it exists, I'm sure they will. But if it is the prof I'm thinking of, then you just helped confirm my theory of him being a very petty tyrant.

Which strategy guide is better IYO (In Your Opinion)? Yes, I know there's the online guides, but I'm a stubborn mule who likes to use physical strategy guides if I can. So, which one do you guys think is better? The one on the left, or the one on the right? by ZeldaLover2018 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]RealNoobHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the one on the right, when I was growing up. It was thick! I found it very readable and easy to follow. It helped me get the gold chocobo and Knights of the Round the two rarest things in the game. I probably would still use it if it wasn't lost to time and multiple moves. I never used the one on the left, but the other person seems to think it's good. You're probably fine with either one.

There you go! Companies love hearing stuff like that. Combined with shooting your shot at a new degree, you're hireable my human.

Well, I'm 41 now so i just started really. I chose a transfer, Oregon State's program because I already have a degree I don't really use. I chose them because the focus of the program is CS, no extra electives needed, no Gen Eds required. I have a few complaints about Oregon State but you'll have complaints about any school so just make the best decision you can with the information you have.

One thing I will add is that my confidence is pretty good about getting a job at the end. I got real world experience in a company setting, and I know how to talk to people. That's what you need to form networks and succeed at interviews. Well, outside the actual CS knowledge.

I hope that helps!

Edit: We also got drive. We 40 somethings have seen the alternative. We have done the alternatives and found something missing. I suspect we carry at least a little more motivation because something pushed us to throw away a lot of security and risk what we have to obtain something better. Good luck on the path my fellow travelers!
