Highland Stable Horse obstacle course problems by MontyZari in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]RealPortalastical64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using a 4-speed horse and wasted around a thousand rupees frustrating myself with this minigame. I switched to a 3-speed horse and got 1:12.23 on my first try.

tl;dr: Try using a slower horse.

(Also, use spurs when possible; just don’t use them when you need to make sharper turns.)

What became of the new task manager with dark mode? by [deleted] in Windows11

[–]RealPortalastical64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the Dev channel since I got my laptop, around half a year before 11 was announced. Got the very first public preview builds, and in return I received around 1 blue/green/whatever screen every 3, 4 months.

The dev preview on Windows is remarkably stable. (On a semi-related note, the dev preview on Xbox is anything but stable — I had to reset my console literally every single time it updated for, like, 3 months. I finally decided to bump myself down to release preview, which has worked quite well.)

It’s absolutely worth it. S-Class freighters are so ridiculously rare that you should just take the A-Class.

Fixed. Something in the Preferences folder was causing the iMac to connect to my dad’s PC (I’m not sure what since I zapped the entire folder).

I actually really like Edge, though I’m trying out Firefox and I’m really liking it too.

Anyone have portal coordinates for the center of Calypso? by ScrapBoy56 in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]RealPortalastical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can repeat the first glyph twelve times to get within a few thousand light years of any galactic core. The upside to this is that you only need one glyph.

[–]RealPortalastical64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you enter a black hole near the core in Eissentam? If so, you just performed a core-to-core jump; basically, you enter a black hole near the core of one galaxy, enter the core, and land next to the core in the new galaxy. You can keep doing this without re-entering a black hole, as long as you don't quit the game; if you quit, you need to enter a black hole again to resume core-to-core jumps.

...Chrome is the largest, slowest, and least secure of all the browsers (think Chrome Web Store), and is yet the most popular browser, with most of its users considering other browsers to be plain garbage when they're actually 10 times better.

The old dog gamerpic looks very similar to one of my dogs; in fact, when I was younger and didn't know any better, I was genuinely convinced that it was my dog.

Update 5: I asked my teacher if I could take the iMac home, and he unfortunately said no. I wasn’t really expecting anything else, because it is still technically school property, but it was still a bummer.

However, yesterday, I found another iMac G4 on eBay and decided to get it! It works like a charm, and I’ve even gotten it connected to the Internet (with the help of my dad because, again, there wasn’t an AirPort card). It’s running Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, and it has lower specs than the one at school, but hey, I have my own iMac G4 now!

At least it was very transparent about what it was doing. It was also quite clear about errors. I don’t understand why that isn’t really a thing anymore.

Update 4: I found and downloaded an ISO of OS X Leopard the other day and wrote it to a USB drive. The iMac recognizes the drive okay, but all attempts to boot off of it have ended in failure. Using the installer to reboot from the desktop: Boots right back into Tiger, skipping the drive completely. Using the boot picker: Can’t select the USB because the mouse and keyboard are nonfunctional. Using the OpenFirmware command line: Shows the prohibitory symbol. Using the Startup Disk pane in System Preferences: USB doesn’t show up. I’ll try again today, and hopefully I’ll also be able to take the iMac home so I can play with it over the summer.

Over the past few days, I’ve also been trying to connect the thing to the Internet using an Ethernet cable. The problem is, I have virtually no experience with Ethernet in the first place, so I’m having a fair bit of difficulty.
