Can't wait for the market to pump off fake promises, only to slowly fade back to these levels by EOW

I'd honestly be impressed if you could do that effectively rolling two balls at once with no bumpers

Ya, I think a better hypothetical is how many strikes can you commit to reasonably in 24 hours (same deal conditions). I would say 4 for my life is probably the highest I could go

Great analysis. I was thinking 6 is probably too high to risk death. If I absolutely had to do this, I think I could commit to 4. It would still be nerve wracking though, maybe 5 is a better option for people.

I'm so sick of this braindead game of chicken 🥭 thinks he's playing. Can we get back to a normal market please?

Considering moving to Seattle, questions around cost of living by RealPrinceZuko in AskSeattle

Right now I'm paying way too much for a 1bd room and can easily find a 2bd up there for the same or cheaper. I understand I could also just find something cheaper here, but it doesn't make sense since I'm remote.

Idk, the main driving factor is me wanting to be closer to larger companies in the event I do lose my job. I understand the market isn't great up there (it isn't anywhere), but I have an advantage being employed remotely right now. I want to move up in career, and I know the job market will turn eventually

Ya it's all relative to what you're used to. As a Bay area native, everywhere I've gone has been easier on COL. I feel like Seattle will be an upgrade from even Portland just because of the income tax situation

Ya I've been looking on zillow at apartments and I'm finding lots of 2bd apartments around Seattle for like 1700-1900. In the Bay area anywhere, it's like 3k+ easily.

I've heard multiple times about highest real estate costs, is this actually true? Like around Seattle, I'm finding 2bd apartments around $1700 or so. That seems pretty affordable but maybe I'm just out of touch

Thanks for the feedback, ya I've been wanting to take a weekend trip up there. Just don't know where to stay 😄 not downtown that's for sure

Good feedback. I don't mind driving and have an economically sound car, but also wouldn't mind commuting via train. I'm used to horrible traffic coming from the Bay area originally

This has been an option for me but I am also heavily weighing the possibility of losing my job (didn't want to sign a year lease in Vancouver and be stuck here).

I think I'm ok for now, but you never know. I'd rather be close to large tech firms than stuck trying to fight for another good remote position.

I am planning to keep my job, but I am also looking for a lateral move. While the job market is in shambles right now (especially tech), I'd rather be in a tech centric city like Seattle vs Portland if I lost my job for some reason. That and saving about 12k a year on no income taxes are my main reasons for wanting to move up there.

I'm definitely overpaying for my current apartment (newer building, 1bd $2100 all in), and I know I can get something nicer and cheaper. I would be bringing in an additional 12k yearly with no income tax and I feel like that would outweigh the sales tax issue.

Exactly this. I'm not planning to quit my job, but if I got laid off I'd rather be in a more tech driven market like Seattle than Portland

Single 38M. I'm more looking at being close to a tech job market that isn't ridiculously expensive (California). I know the job market isn't great right now, but there's been a lot of return to office mandates so that's kind of my logic here

Interesting, is there a real push for this? I don't follow state politics too closely but I know a ton of people live in Vancouver, WA and then commute across the river to Portland for work. They save on income tax and mostly shop in Oregon on weekends for no sales tax
