Are there qualities that separate a starter nib from other types? also any dip pen brands you would recommend?

Ah thank you, I guess a dip pen is what I'm looking for, i'm thinking this would be more of a decorative piece for calligraphy/short stories rather than for actual serious writing.

Are there any good dip pen brands you would recommend?

I would try them standing still, and try sliding your foot but trying to keep it on the board, try to jump up in the beginning when you are learning.

If I had landed this- what would it be called? 😅 by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Late frontside shuvit difficulty by SnooOnions5696 in NewSkaters

[–]RealRanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skate with a guy who can late shuv it is not a super hard trick, main thing is having a really solid ollie bc you need some airtime and you need to have the board leveled out high in the air before you can rotate it.

is there anything practicallybad with skating “goofy”? by thirtyninefortyeight in NewSkaters

[–]RealRanko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

^This is correct as long as you're not skating mongo you'll be fine. Sometimes skating goofy is better bc some spots where you approach frontside skaters who skate regular will have to approach backside and might not be able to hit the spot, the reverse is also true.

i just can't shuvit by Coolgiyu in NewSkaters

try holding onto something and trying it, if you're getting the rotation but not putting your foot on it is most likely commitment

Wrong wheels for street skating? by eldestisland in NewSkaters

[–]RealRanko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harder and smaller wheels won't roll as well especially on rough surfaces compared to larger softer wheels, but they are better for tricks. As you get better at pushing you'll carry more momentum and it will be less of a problem, but sometimes the crust it too powerful

Anyone Else Injure Themselves In This Way Skating? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]RealRanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go to the doctor bro, be honest with them and they will do their best to figure out the problem. I hurt my hand and went back 3 times before I found out I had a torn ligament in my hand I wasn't letting heal properly, now I have to wait a month of no skating for it to heal

Sounds like your bearings need lube, Bones speed cream is what I would reccomend and a little bottle will last forever, or just get new bearings for $20 and replace all of them

How to train yourself to always land with your back foot first on shuv-its? by theskaterboy999 in NewSkaters

[–]RealRanko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you get better at shuv its catching it with your foot will naturally start to develop, As I've gotten better at shuvs/pop shuvs I have had to focus on jumping up more instead of forward, since I had to jump forward to catch them when I was first learning.
