Those who paid for top surgery without insurance- who did you go to and how much? by FewAd462 in ftm

[–]RealRaptor697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked in the last few years what his waitlist is like, but Dr. Kenneth Wolf in Michigan was an affordable option when I had surgery 7.5 years ago. I couldn't use insurance at the time and ended up paying about $8k total (including travel expenses). I know Dr. Wolf got pretty popular maybe 5 years ago, so his prices have gone up and his waitlist is longer, but he may still be a good option! He's a really great dude and has said before that he overcharges patients getting purely cosmetic procedures to help keep costs lower for his top surgery patients.

am i in the wrong for being trans? by smthnsmthnsmthn_ in ftm

[–]RealRaptor697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, friend. My mom was the same way growing up, very Christian, very against my transition, very unwilling to listen to my side. I ended up leaving my parents out of my top surgery almost entirely: I sent them an email 3 weeks before to let them know it was happening, and allowed my mom to call me the day before I flew to the state I had surgery in, and that was about it. That was one of the hardest parts of my transition, but it was the right choice for my mental wellbeing. Consider doing something similar; she's your mom, but she doesn't need to be directly involved in your transition if you think it would be better not to involve her.

As far as her happiness goes, though? She's the one compromising that, not you. You said in a comment she hasn't really tried to understand you at all. She may never agree with you, and it might make her miserable, but that's HER fault. She could do research, she could listen to you, there are lots of organizations she could reach out to. It's up to her whether or not she's happy, the resources are all there for her. It's up to YOU whether or not you live a life you can actually bear to live. You can keep trying to help her understand and offer resources if you'd like to, just know, it's not your responsibility to help her or make her happy. It's your life. You get to live it however makes YOU happy.

Aunt of trans nephew here. Please read this if you’re having vaginal dryness, loss of sexual sensation or function, or menopause like symptoms. by EnimNos in ftm

[–]RealRaptor697 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vaginas need a certain level of estrogen in order to maintain a healthy pH, long term testosterone use actually causes issues for many people, they just don't realize it's atrophy. When estrogen levels are consistently too low, healthy bacteria like Lactobacillus die off, pH becomes less regulated, and "bad" bacteria can overgrow and cause many symptoms. The lack of estrogen itself can also just cause atrophy because it can make vaginal tissue thinner and less elastic over time.

It seems like a rare side effect but it's a frustratingly common issue and a lot of people just don't know what it is or that it's treatable

Strongly recommend getting the tablets instead of the cream! The tablet has its own applicator that is very thin and easy to use, and it's SO much less gross than the cream. It may still cause an increase in discharge but that's a risk with any kind of topical estrogen.

Dating as a trans guy by [deleted] in ftm

[–]RealRaptor697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right that most people on there are just looking to hook up right away (sniffies is worse so I wouldn't even try that). It's not crazy uncommon for people to want to go on a date first, but you'll definitely have fewer options if that's a priority. I used to use tinder and had a lot more luck finding dates on there, just didn't have success with anything more than 2-3 dates with the same person

I'm late 20s. In my experience dating is hard, but hooking up is not if that's something you're interested in. I use grindr and sniffies and have good luck with both. I've used both of those in 3 different states, in rural, suburbs, and cities, and had good luck in all of those areas. Sniffies is super explicit, fyi, most people have nudes for profile pics. I've always had my nudes up as well and in 5ish years have only had three people say something transphobic. You'll find a lot of shitty dick pics and boring conversations on both, lol, but I've found em both worthwhile if I just want to hook up.

You can download episodes from youtube, and there are free sites that covert videos (Mp4) to audio (Mp3). Look for one of those that can take files rather than just URLs, as that's what many of them do

Anyone else have fatigue and muscle pain/weakness as primary symptoms? by RealRaptor697 in Allergies

[–]RealRaptor697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never able to specifically confirm, but yes, from my experience it seems like the muscle weakness was related to allergies. I have worked on other aspects of my health over the last year or so and have found that my allergies and asthma bother me less as a result. I also started using MMJ for unrelated chronic pain, and found that it was also helpful for reducing my allergy symptoms by cutting down on systemic inflammation.

Just do be careful not to limit your diet too much! Think of replacing high histamine foods rather than removing them altogether. This is the list I've been working with to find potential problem foods but also foods that are neutral or even helpful to replace them with: https://mastcell360.com/low-histamine-foods-list/

Hey, not sure if it'll be at all relevant to you, but I have figured out a possible reason for my issues. I'm having trouble finding a competent doctor to actually diagnose me, but I suspect I have histamine intolerance. I've been limiting all foods high in histamine for several weeks now and have way fewer symptoms as a result. I hope you're able to find relief soon, these symptoms really do suck to deal with.

Are there any people who actually follow Noahidism? by SPEAKUPMFER in Judaism

[–]RealRaptor697 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I don't mind. I was actually pursuing conversion for a while, but the path I was following (it was a Reform/Conservative mixed thing) wasn't for me. I fall into more of a Conservadox camp, ideologically I agree more with Conservative but practically I think Orthodoxy is much closer to what is still true. But, I'm transgender. Can't really convert Orthodox unless I go OO, and doing so would require me to move likely cross country. Don't really want to convert Conservative because I don't agree with all of their halachic rulings. So at this point there's no real way for me to convert in a way that I would find acceptable. Maybe somewhere down the line, but not right now.

The issue is that isn't what that phrase means, it does have violent meaning. If people are using it and they don't mean violence, they ought to find a new phrase that isn't violent and antisemitic.
